The serials and programs consist primarily of theatrically released motion pictures along with original television series.
The channel is the oldest and longest operating pay television service that adjusts income of around US$ 1.79 billion.

Albrecht and Strauss have tried to develop more series for the HBO channel and their goal is to
schedule original series and miniseries on Sunday night’s year around.
HBO has to make substantial financial investment into a show in order to obtain it.
In spite of company's efforts, HBO appeared to be in business on a comedy pilot called Action
which is a short replay movie. The entertainment industry has been known for multitude behavior in
the past because it considers the moves by many large players which vertically integrate with other
channels and users.

as a highest payable channel because of all types of movies and serials it telecasts. The

and Oberholzer-Gee, 2013). It is based on the computer animated films appear
three dimensional on the film screen. The advancement of technology in making
the 3D films and the graphic and web designing of the films make it unique in the
film screen. HBO is a television network which consists of theatrically based
movies, television series, documentaries, boxing series, and concert specials.
PORTERS FIVE FORCES MODEL
According to the views of Michael Porter, “The Five Forces Model is useful to analyze the
competitive environment in which the company operates its business”.
“The model is also considered a strategic framework that provides companies clear analysis of
their competitive advantage”.
The level of competition is also adequately managed by the premium channel in which other
cable outlets such as Showtime, TNT and A&E competes with HBO with same original
movies and documentaries. But no other channels are able to match HBO's brand identity in
series.
Through applicability of porter five forces on HBO it has been found that large number of
challenges is present in the outside environment which is affecting business productivity.
Further, bargaining power of customers along with competitive rivalry is high as other
operators in this field are operating in the market.

entity to increase TRP ratio.
The research has been emphasizing on impacts of 3D animation and HD functions on
telecasts of HBO.
Product and process innovation of HBO has been discussed along with the key players
that generate competition for HBO in telecast industry.
Recommendations
The more creative risk in the market increases its
content in the next few years (Negus, 2013). The
innovative ideas of broadcasting the various series
increases their market share in the entertainment
industry. Thus, chief emphasis should be given
towards innovative and creative aspects.
For HBO to enhance its overall performance in the
market it is required for business to focus on
advanced areas such as 3D or 4D movies. Business
can identify what other channels are offering and
on the basis of same superior movies and other
sources of entertainment can be considered.
RESOURCE BASED VIEW
Resource based view is an approach for competitive
advantage of a firm which lies primarily in the application
of a bundle of valuable tangible or intangible resources at
the firm's disposal. These resources needs to be
heterogeneous in nature so as to transform a short run
competitive advantage into a sustained competitive
advantage. Thus, variety of telecasts such as movies, serials
and reality shows are the tangible and intangible sources
that aids HBO to acquire sustained competitive advantage.
