Critical Analysis
This article defines the different experiences of Europe in urban and regional spatial strategies.
These strategies relate with the concepts of space and place and these concepts are used for
institutional work of the place. These concepts need to do properly in the treatment of space and
place. It explains the various concepts that is related to the geographical process which is dis-
contiguous and relational conceptualization of spatiality. These issues are mainly relates with the
treatment of Space and Place, which is mentioned in New Strategic Spatial planning in Europe.
These issues explained with the use of three recent strategic planning episodes (Baro, et. al.,
2016).
The three planning episodes are The Netherlands Fifth National Policy Document on Spatial
Planning, the Regional Development Strategy for Northern Ireland and the Framework
Document for Milan. These three episodes are very innovative in their content and increase the
innovation in the strategies. These episodes give the exemplars that help in the new ways of
thinking regarding the space and place. They also help in maintaining the spatial planning
strategies in the context of contemporary governance. Many of the geographical ideas relates
with these three national episodes (Davies and Lafortezza, 2017). The several traditional
planning ideas are also relates with these episodes. The critical analysis of this treatment gives
the political dimensions that are used to develop the new spatial vocabularies that relates with the
urban and regional development and it gives the significance, which gives the information
regarding the concepts of the new spatial planning.
