Executive Summary
The aim of this report is to select an Australian workplace to identify
a key human resource management issue faced by the company. In this
report, Coles is selected as the company, and the key issue which is faced
by the company is relating to talent attraction and selection. The
background of the company is analysed along with its number of
employees and key competitors. The key factors that affect this issue in
the organisation are identified in this report which includes a negative
public image, lack of talent management program, poor selection criteria,
ineffective training facility and lack of availability of talent. In order to
address these challenges, various recommendations are given for the
company as well such as improvement of employee benefits,
implementation of the talent management program, changes in training
policies and creating a positive public image. These suggestions can assist
the company in resolving this issue to sustain its growth in the market.

Introduction
In today’s competitive business world, corporations are struggling to
sustain their profitability and retain their customers by generating a
competitive advantage over their competitors. Through talent attraction
and selection, companies can generate a competitive advantage in their
respective industry since it allows them to build a qualified workforce that
is highly dedicated and works toward achieving organisational goals in an
efficient manner (Rabbi, Ahad, Kousar & Ali, 2015). However, there are
many corporations which face human resource management (HRM) issues
relating to talent attraction and selection which makes it difficult for them
to deliver high-quality services to their customers and build positive
relationships with them. The objective of this report is to analyses “Coles
Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd or Coles” in order to evaluate the key HRM
issue of “talent attraction and selection” which the company is facing.
This report will analyse the details of the company and evaluate the
reasons due to which it is facing this challenge. Lastly, a conclusion will be
