Between the year 1910 and 1970, the indigenous children were removed from their families
forcibly due to the various types of government policies. The generation of the children that
were removed from their families were termed or called as the stolen generations. The policies
of child removal left a deep scar of loss and trauma that continued to affect the individuals,
families and communities. The removal of the indigenous children forcibly was a part of the
policy of assimilation.
