Learning Contract
Clinical Area of Interest
The first topic to focus on for the learning contract is caring for patients
that have had tracheostomy. Tracheostomy is invasive clinical procedure
which involves an incision inside the trachea or the windpipe, where a
breathing tube is inserted (Bedwell et al., 2019). It is a complex procedure
and is carried out as amn ultimate surgical procedure to bypass a highly
obstructed airway and devliver oxygen easily throughout the body of the
patient (Campisi & Forte, 2016). This compelx invasive procedure can
have a huge impact on the patients and there are a variety of risks
asscociated with the patoents after completing a tracheostomy procedure,
especially with a very high infection risk and tube drainage maintenance
errors and complications. Hence, nurses require a strict detailed and
competent knowledge tregarding the after care and patient management
post a successful tracheostomy surgery (Pradhan et al., 2018). As a result,
this has been chosen as aclinical area of interest for the paper.
Conceptual Reflective Framework
The chosen conceptual reflective framework which is used for in the paper
will be the Gibbs reflective cycle. It is one of the most fundamentally used
and utilized reflective framework in practice, especially for the nursing
and health care practices. Gibbs reflective cycle is a systematic format or
template which allows the practitioner to revisit the entire expeince and
learn by experience in a step by step manner (Howatson-Jones, 2016). The
reflective framework has 6 intercinected steps, Description, Feelings,
Evaluation, Analysis, Conclusion, and Action plan.
Learning Objectives
The learning objectives in this case will be as follows:
1. elaborating on the process of Tracheostomy process and the related
nursing acre requirements.
2. elaborating the notable risks and precautionary measures needed to
be taken by the nurses while caring for these patients.
3. learn the most notable infection risks and the infection control
measure
4. learning the tibe drainage clearance and maintenance
5. pain management for patients, both pharmacological and
nonpharmacological measures

Resources
Human resources
The human resource I would be utilizing in the project includes my nursing
educator, clinical educators, clinical course co-ordinators, the staff of IHM,
and my peers or acquaintances in the Australian registered nursinhg
workforce. the nurses are excellent sources of information regarding the
clinical area of concern that I have chosne for the paper and will be able
to answer to all queries that I might have. Along with that, they will alos
be able to guide me on the practice protocols and strategies that are in
use in the Australian health care system and will equip me with up to date
and recent practice protocol.
Literary Resources
The literary sources will help me gather understanding and knolwdge from
the secondary research articles, journals and databases regarding the
topic pf concern and apply evidence based learning process. In this case, I
will utilize the CINAHL and MEDLINE databases to explore peer reviewed
recent and relevant journals on the topic. I will alos utilize the IHM online
library and PubMed as well for literature serach. Along with that, I will also
consider Australian nursing protocols and standards of practice from
NMBA. Along with that, I would alos use ethicsl code of conduct for
Australian nurses.
Other Resources
I will need to enrol myself in different online courses and workshops in
order to imoprove my skills and competence in communication and
patient handling.
