Introduction
While conducting a research about the impact of PECS on “peer to peer Communication” simple
components serves as the keyword or the key field for the data collection. We can furnish a list
of these components by naming “efficacy & deliverance,” “deliverance of the purpose of the
communication,” “impact of the PCES on the communication,” “frequency of commenting,”
Utterance time of the communication,” length of the communication,” willingness to answer the
questions,” ability to handle speech complexity,” “development of an adequate communication
profile” and the “pragmatic approach while handling certain abnormal or out of the box
situations.”
The identification of the keywords guided us further to fix a methodology for this qualitative
research and helped us in determining the field of data collection. Under this methodology, the
formula of single-subject multiple baseline design will support us in tabling down the findings at
all levels and phases.
Certain parameters related to the quantitative and qualitative efficacy and deliverance of the
communication will be tested on the merits of a “before and after” scale. Factors like frequency
of commenting, requesting and length of the utterance will be examined while comparing two
subjects. The exactness of the communication and the ability to express the desired text can also
be examined with the help of a table where columns of “the purpose of the communication” and

“delivered message” will be mentioned and segregated for various questionnaires (Alderson et
al, 2011)’.
In order to investigate our findings, we identified three more methods. The details of these
methods go asunder.
Method 1
Overt Observations of the subjects
Overt observations are the observations when prior to launching an observation the researcher
takes the consent of the subjects. The reason behind adopting this method over the formal
observations was subjected to the ethics of the research. The ethical considerations associated
with the PECS method and the role of the Peer to Peer interactions demands an overt method of
observation. The present theories of action research and the guidelines of all the premier
institutions support the overt type of observation. Overt observation guards the interests of the
subjects and saves them from probable psychological or physiological shocks (Robson,2016).
The methodology associated with this research is equipped with some tools to mitigate the bias
caused by an overt observation. In general, an overt observation adds a new baseline of
calculation in a regular method of observation (O, Hara, 2011).
During the course of an overt observation, we can meet out the variable by changing the baseline
calculations. It is a tried and tested formula adopted by many researchers working in the field of
psychology based research where the behavior of the subjects plays a key role. Patients suffering
from various psychological ailments may act differently when they are aware of the fact that they
are being watched. In a similar fashion, the presence of new faces in regular surroundings can
