NYC VS LA ARCHITECTURE
Architectural works mainly centers on works of art as well as cultural symbols.
Architecture hence has continuously embraced innovative thinking and creativity in designs and
as a result exceptionally similar, unique, and modified designs across countries, cities and hence
globally.
The Statue of Liberty at liberty island in New York presented by French to US 1886 is one
of the recognized icons globally symbolizes NYC while the Hollywood sign originally created in
1923 (in which smaller letter words are 40 ft and capital words 352 ft) on mount Lee in the area
of Santa Monica symbolizes LA.
The Grand Central Terminal, GCT in Midtown Manhattan NYC is an interesting product
of architect. Globally, GCT is the biggest train station considering the number of platforms: [3]
44 having sixty-seven tracks (Walsh, et al. 56). In Los Angeles, the Union Station is built on a
unique blend of Art Deco styles and Spanish Colonial Revival. The union station has been
described as an architectural gem
In terms of buildings, Empire state Building is a notable architectural work in NYC built in
1930/1931 incorporating Art Deco style. Until 1972, it stood as the world’s tallest building. Los
Angeles’ Bradbury Building in Downtown popular for the unprepossessing brown-brick exterior
was an art derived from 1887 science fiction novel.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC built in 1880 based on neoclassical style with
stone as the main construction material is among the world’s notable museums. The Petersen
Automotive Museum is a notable architectural design in LA made of 308 metallic stainless steel
encasing the red painted box buildings (Modative 43). It was reopened in 2015.
Conclusion
The contribution of architecture in NYC and LA is exceptional and continues to develop
enthusiastically. This has formed a basis of comparison between the two cities.
