Introduction
The direction of part or the entire portfolio of a client by an institution that provides financial
services, usually an individual or investment bank, is known as asset management. Various
investment services are offered by financial institutions along with a vast range of alternative and
traditional range of offerings of products which might not have the availability for the average
investors (Amadi-Echendu, et. Al., 2010). It basically refers to the process of managing the
investments on the behalf of other people. This procedure has a two way mandate – mitigation of
risk as well as appreciation of the assets over time of a client. Such a service is usually available
for government entities, financial intermediaries, corporations and individuals whose net-worth
is quite high. An asset manager’s role includes determination of the necessary investments to be
made or avoided which would help in the growth and development of the portfolio of a client. In-
depth research is incorporated by the utilization of both micro as well as macro analytical tools.
Asset manager’s role also includes a statistical analysis of the interviews with the officials of a
company, existing trends of a market, and anything else that would potentially help in the
achievement of the stated objective which is appreciation of the client’s assets. Usually, the
financial advisor invests in products like fixed income, commodities, real estate, equity, mutual
funds and alternate investments. The accounts which are held by the financial institutions
consists of credit cards, margin loans, debit cards, privileges of check writing, brokerage services
and the cash balances’ automatic sweep into the funds of money markets.
In the current literature, experience is which I learnt and gained during the time period of the
workshop first and second would be discussed thoroughly. The workshops mainly emphasize
upon the theories and frameworks that support my experiences. In the first workshop, my group
was indulged into ok study which basically discussed about the first energy power blackout
which took place in the year 2003 in United States of America and Canada. The particular case
study was chosen because of the fact that it is a very interesting topic to be discussed about. I
found the fishbank simulation game it's concept very interesting because various distinct
strategies are used for making profits reading the boats and fishing. The fact that the simulation
concept is a game makes it even more interesting. In the next workshop, the whole group was
taken to the Kirra beach where doctor Steve Pudney give his explanation regarding the
construction of the sea wall and made us understand how the same would be used. On the very
