4 ABSTRACTThis report is based upon the work placement project of Scarlett Entertainment. The title of this report is Cultural differences affecting the management of the international artists for the global reputable client(s) in the Entertainment Industry of the UK. The research which is conducted in this project is about the cultural differences and conflicts which rarely arise at workplaces. The industry here which is selected for this report is entertainment and talent acquisition agency which is globally recognized and have reputable clients around the world. Their clients are high-class brands such as Etihad Airways, Prada, Ralph Lauran, Ferrari, Holland America, Windows, and Samsung. The agency is operating their business in the Middle East, Italy, Las Vegas and New York. This report contains the research related to the theories and approaches which are implemented and practiced by management where individuals from multi-culture are hired. The report also includes the different theories related to Culture differences, Organizational Cultures and Analysis referenced to the case of Scarlett Entertainment.
5 CHAPTERONE:INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTIONIn this paper, the objective and focus of the study are based on the impact of cultural differences which are affecting the management of various agencies of the entertainment industry. The core focus of this paper is to identify the risk and impacts of cultural differences in the entertainment industry of the United Kingdom by evaluating the case study company Scarlett Entertainment (Scarlett Entertainment, 2019). The organization is a multinational event and talent agency, started in 2009. They have the stuff of over 50 individuals, speaking eleven languages. The main office is in the UK but they are also operating in Italy, New York, Middle East and Las Vegas. The multilingual team provides entertainment for over 2000 events every year. Scarlett Entertainment provides excellent service that ensures every event will stand out for all the right reasons. They have also won many awards, including Best Entertainment Production at the 2014 Middle East Event Awards and Business of the Year at the 2015 South West Business Awards (Scarlett Entertainment, 2019). BACKGROUND OF STUDYThe background of this research is based on the Entertainment industry; this is work placement research of Scarlett Entertainment United Kingdom. The notion behind this paper is to identify the factors of cultural difference in the entertainment industry. This either negatively or positively affects the management. The company is globally recognized talent booking agency and entertainment specialist (Smith, 2019). They have been providing exciting and unique entertainment events around the world. Therefore, people from a different culture is working within the agency, versatile culture employees can face different issues with the management and also with the other stuff due to different ethnic background. While, on the other hand, they are also hiring the artist for their entertainment projects from different ethnic backgrounds. Consequently, the study of this work placement plan is to study the culture of Scarlett Entertainment and identify the major issues which are faced across the organisation by management, stuff and Artists (Scarlett Entertainment, 2019). RESEARCH QUESTIONThe research questions for this paper are is as follow:
6 How the cultural differences and communication barriers affect the performance of Scarlett Entertainment and, are such differences negative for Entertainment Industry? RESEARCH OBJECTIVE The research objective provides the complete road map for the entire research. This suggests the final outcome of the research and research is conducted on the objectives. Following are the objectives of this research: Examining the scope of globally renowned artists working for Scarlett Entertainment and Understanding the importance of cultural differences regarding the case study company Scarlett Entertainment.
