1. What are some examples of sustainability concerns you have noticed personally or in your community? Air pollution and carbon footprints are the biggest Sustainability concerns in my views. I would like to explain it with the help of another case.An increase in the water levels in some densely populated areas took place because of the absence of soaking pits and excessive exploitation of the water resources. This increase in the water levels forced the rainwater to settle in the crest at a part where the chances of poisonous contaminations are high. Although these impacts can be mitigated, luckily, we have water treatment plants to handle this problem; the availability of pure water to densely populated areas is achievable. Now let’s apply the same condition with the air, we cannot supply fresh air everywhere, it is nearly impossible. Fossil fuels, industrial wastes, and non-disposable carbon waste can cause an alarming situation where humanity may die because of air pollution. Countries like China and India are already feeling the pangs of the air pollution, the air of densely populated cities like Shanghai and New Delhi are not pure enough for human consumption and leaving long term impacts on the general health of the natives living in the area.Unwise use of fossil fuels and deliberate ignorance towards carbon footprints can cause take air pollution to alarming levels. 2. State which sustainability scenario you have chosen for your essay. What is it about this scenario that interests you, and why?
The development of eco-tourism, village tourism, and cultural tourism can be utilized to keep air pollution and water pollution at bay.The principle of Triple bottom line, people, planet and profit can be applied in the development of these tourism destinations. This type of tourism can generate employment for the local people, this employment can reduce immigration towards big cities and pressure on the big cities can be relieved quite considerably. This touristic activity will also create reasons to protect the natural habitats and preserve the ecological balance of different regions. Another factor is related to the “carrying capacity of any given place. The development of eco-tourism can put a bar on an uncontrolled increase in the population ratio to prevent undue extortion of the natural resources.
