The city of Kanpur is facing severe environmental pollution issues, affecting the health of its citizens. Despite efforts to control pollution, measures have been inadequate, leading to increased carbon and sulphur emissions, poor waste water management, and excessive use of private vehicles. The Ganga saving Pact plan has not been implemented effectively, and there is a lack of planning for domestic fuel usage. Additionally, there are no controls over noise pollution from electronic equipment or cremation flowing into the Ganga river. To address these issues, the UP Government must take immediate steps to reduce pollution, including implementing national ambient air quality standards, introducing cleaner fuels, reformulating environmental regulations, and restricting vehicle use.
