Task 1
Explain the key factors that drive change in health and social care services as applied to the
case scenario.
There are various types of factors involved in the change process of a health and social care
services. These factors also include different types of strategies and managerial skills. The
management of the health and social care services needs to provide more attention to the
community based living from the residential care(Scriven and Garman, 2012). According to the
case scenario, Denise is the manager of the Local Action for the Disabled who needs to manage
the whole change process for her management board, staffs and service users. The local authority
made a decision and issued a change which replaces the residential care to supported living. The
management of Local Action for the Disabled also needs to focus that, during and after change
implementation process, an employee needs to control his/her emotion and feelings. In other
words, most of the employees of Local Action for the Disabled strongly think that the residential
care is a safer place rather than the supported living resident. The society is based on local
community policies and regulation. So, according to the local authority, the supported living will
be more beneficial than residential care. Different people have the different psychology which
critically separates the intellectual thoughts from each other in people. The concept of the
independent and supported community-based living was failed earlier because the families and
residents made the objection against the decision and the plan of Local Action for the Disabled
was unsuccessful(Brown, 2009). In other words, the people of the residents strongly felt that this

is not a good idea or concept for providing better care and services to the individuals. Besides
that, the manager of Local Action for the Disabled has been asked by her manager that, the
homes needs to be closed and need to ensure hazardless perfect accommodation due to the
change from resident care to supported community-based living for the residents. The manager
of Local Action for the Disabled also was strongly advised to dominate and as much as possible
avoid the negative publicity which based on closure issue of the homes and moving towards
community-based living for the residents.
The manager of Local Action for the Disabled who was Denise includes lots of responsibility
and duties in order to organise and manage the change process properly. In terms of customer
satisfaction or improvement of patient’s health condition, both are critically depend on the living
environment. The support of the community-based living of residents has not a solid structure.
On the other hand, Local Action for the Disabled tried earlier in order to move forward and make
the residential care to community-based living for residents, but the families and residents made
the objection against the decision and the plan of Local Action for the Disabled was
unsuccessful. In other words, the people of the residents strongly felt that this is a bad idea or
concept for providing better care and services to the individuals(Wolfelt, 2013).
The challenges that key factors of change bring to health and social care services
The key factors of change can be described in many ways concerning the situation and the
present stage of the organization. It is to be said that the change in the organization depends on
many incidents that unpleased the management of the organization as well as the people who are
using the servitude of the organization (Bassi et al., 2010).
