SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT
Schedule management can be referred to as a procedure to develop, maintain and
communicate schedule for both resources and time. The scheduling procedure starts with the
significant work, which is required for delivering stakeholders’ requirements (Kerzner 2017).
The major factors like limited resources and estimation of uncertainty are being considered
majorly in this phenomenon. It involves technical work, which creates output as well as
management activity for handling aspects like stakeholder management and risk
management.
Changes in project scope can cause increment of costs and even deadlines to be
unmet. Management of such changes in project scope could be extremely challenging for all
types of projects (Meredith, Mantel Jr and Shafer 2017). Effective decisions could be made
and necessary steps can be undertaken for better output. The impact of scope management on
project success can harm severely to the project after inclusion of missed deadlines,
overrunning of budgets and even failure of project.
At first, the change baseline should be identified for better management of scope
change, then subsequent change management in scope would be needed. When potential
changes are being identified, they should be properly prioritized and analysed so that project
managers could undertake necessary steps for making changes (Larson and Gray 2017). The
project manager should determine the changes to be made and process of all changes
impacting on project deliverables and variation from perceived scope influencing final
outcome of the project work.
The scope change is inevitable, although it is vital to weigh every proposed change
regarding evaluation of potential impacts on overall project management. The main purpose
of scope change management procedures is helping to manage, control as well as document
every change occurring in the projects (Heagney 2016). After completion of computations for
