INTRODUCTION
Higher education plays an important role in developing effective career opportunities for an
individual. It is very much crucial for a person to pursue higher education and gain career growth
in life (Byrne, 2020). The skills in higher education are important in order to gain competitive
advantage in life. In this project assessment of assessment of an article is performed in order to
answer several questions which are related to academic life. In this report a healthy research is
also conducted in order to explain different aspects related to academics. This report also
contains assessment of different skills of student which are helpful in universities and at
workplace. There are also six recommendations that could help student improve content of their
CVs.

Three listening challenges in academic life
In academic life when teachers perform teaching functions, several times students are
unable to understand fully what teacher is exactly delivering through lecture. Speed of delivery is
one of the major challenges which are faced by students in their academic life related to
listening. In institutes, most of the times when teachers deliver lecture in classrooms, their
teaching speed of words is majorly very fast. This creates a learning gap between teacher and
students; it is considered as one of the major issue which is considered as major challenge related
to listening. Secondary problem in academic life related to teaching is accent of teacher which
creates a major obstacle for students in the field of learning. In most of the cases at universities,
accent of teachers is different due to several factors which majorly impacts on learning process.
Differences in accent occur due to geographical location of different teachers who are teaching in
institutes. Vocabulary is another challenge in academic life for students related to listening, it is
recommended for the teachers to use good vocabulary in institutes. Vocabulary power plays an
important role in the development of personality and necessary skills of students by improving
several skills. In most of the institutes this is one of the major problems which are faced by
students in order to learn effectively (Cotronei-Baird, 2020). These three are major problems
which are faced by students while learning in institutes as they create major obstacles in the
learning development.

Three strategies teachers can use to help students improve their listening skills
In academic life, students must improve their listening skills in order to develop their
learning and personality. It is important for students to improve their listening skills in order to
gain competitive advantage in their academic life. Teachers can use power point presentation in
classrooms in order to teach students effectively with help of power point slides. In the era of
information and technology, it is essential to use power point presentation in order to teach
students in a precise manner. Most of the institutions in today’s world are using power point
presentation in order to teach students in a precise manner. Teachers can also install projectors in
classrooms to teach subjects to students in order to develop their knowledge. In academic life
related to higher education, it is important for institutes to install projectors in classrooms for
effectively teaching in the campus. Teachers should use high quality sound systems in order to
improve the listening skills. In institutes, it is recommended for teachers to perform various
methods which are helpful in increasing the listening skills of students. It is also recommended
for the management to lead the learning activities (Ghanizadeh, 2017). The management of every
concerned institute should formulate effective strategies in order to facilitate listening skills in
students. In the development of mental strength in students, it is effective and precise for
students to implement various strategies that are helpful in increasing listening skills. The
management of concerned institute should perform time to time assessment of performance of
individuals in order to check their learning skills in a precise manner.
Self faced listening challenges and how to deal with them
I have faced several challenges in the field of learning in my institution which has caused
lack of some knowledge in me. I always try to improve my learning skills in order to gain precise
knowledge about a subject. I face difficulty when teacher speaks very fast in the classroom; this
practice which is generally performed by teacher creates an obstacle for me when I try to learn
something. I also face difficulty while understanding vocabulary of teachers when they speak in
classroom. I try to pay maximum attention towards teacher’s vocabulary but because of lack of
listening skills it is hard for me to understand vocabulary which is delivered. I face difficulty
when teachers deliver lectures in a good speed; it is difficult for me to understand several aspects
of subjects. I try to note down important points in my notebook, but it becomes hard for me to
note down every point due to speed of the lecture. In order to improve my listening skills, I try to
take support of teachers and management continuously. I prefer to adopt effective techniques of

increasing my learning skills through internet in order to understand lectures in a precise manner.
In academic life listening skills play an important role by enhancing mental development of
students in a precise manner. I always try to improve my learning skills in order to prepare
myself for several opportunities and challenges which are present in the academic environment.

In universities, skills play an important role in the development of students and also effects
on the performance of individuals in a precise manner. It is important to posses’ different sets of
skills in order to improve their academic and career life. Skills play an important role at the
workplace by making a candidate distinct from others. In today’s competent world several
organisations demand for skilled employees in order to gain competitive advantage at the
marketplace (González Canché, 2018). It is also essential for an organisation to hire candidate
with effective skills in order to increase productivity of the organisation as well as increasing the
efficiency of business entity.
Students are required to posses’ good communication skills in order to communicate
effectively with management and teachers. Good communication skills are also effective at the
workplace as it helps in increasing coordination between different employees. At workplace
effective communication skills play an important role by increasing the harmony between
various employees. It is essential for the management to develop effective communication skills
in students in order to make them competent as per general scenario. Communication skills play
an important role in the development of exchange of information in a precise manner. This
practice will increase the coordination between different employees at the workplace. In order to
gain a competitive advantage at the marketplace, it is essential for the organisation to develop
good communication skills in students. In students there must be learning skills in order to
increase the learning abilities in them. Learning skills are helpful in increasing the knowledge
which is most useful in academic and organisational life (Le, and et. al, 2019). In the academic
life learning skills provides a major competitive advantage to a person by increasing mental
strength and capability of a person. The learning skills are developed by most of the institutions
in order to lead the students in academic activities. Most of the universities in today’s world are

academic life. It is essential for the management of concerned university to keep an eye on all the
activities which are helpful in increasing learning skills of candidate. Thinking skills are the
other type of skills which must be possessed by a candidate in order to increasing the mental
power. Thinking skills are effective in increasing the competency power of students thus it is
essential for management of institute to promote implementation of different policies which are
effective in increasing the thinking skills. In the era of stiff competition, thinking skills also help
in performing leadership related activities and functions. At workplace also thinking skills play
an important role by increasing the strategic capability of a person. It is important for an
organisation to posses thinking skills which are important in strategic operations of the
organisation (Lin, 2018). In the overall development of mental strength of a candidate, thinking
skills play a major role by developing all the necessary aspects related to mental strength. At
workplace there is a lot of importance of thinking skills as most of the organisations hire
candidates who have effective thinking skills. In the general environment, thinking skills play an
important role by developing overall effectiveness and efficiency of a person. It is the crucial
demand of workplace in the modern time to hire employees with effective and important
thinking skills. It is essential for an organisation to hire employees with effective thinking skills
in order to gain competitive advantage at the marketplace.
The problem solving skills of a candidate are also important skills which should be

specific background and experience of the candidate. It is important for a candidate to update his
Curriculum Vitae in order to draw attention of the employer towards the interested candidate.
The first recommendation for students in order to improve the quality of CV is to fill
Curriculum Vitae with honesty. In other words, interested candidate or a student must fill all
the information in correct manner in CV. The employer always focuses on the honesty of
candidate while hiring the right person for a job. It is major responsibility of a candidate to fill all
the information in Curriculum Vitae correctly. The second recommendation for students is that
they must perform social working in order to increase the social experience. In Curriculum
Vitae, experience plays an important role by performing development of students which helps
them in gaining a job related opportunity. In order to gain competitive advantage in the
employment opportunity, it is important for the student to develop experience related to social
working (Skoyles, 2019).

It is essential for the overall development of a student to engage with a famous company in order
to lead other students in relation to work experience. The work experience should be filled in a
precise manner in the CV in order to gain edge over other candidates in order to gain practical
learning (Trautwein, 2017). In CV there should be essential content written in a precise manner
to convince employer. The universities in era of stiff competition are focusing on increasing
ethics and integrity in students in order to develop their role for a precise job. The development
of a candidate is facilitated by work experience and in recent times most of the companies are
demanding effective work related experience from the candidates. In the era of stiff competition
it is recommended for students to fill their CVs in a precise manner to get a good job opportunity
at the marketplace.
