Summary of the speech and initial impressions of the presentation
My presentation speech was all about self-introduction that is introducing myself in front
of others. The speech includes introducing about hobbies, capabilities, academic information,
interests and future goals (Wrosch & Heckhausen, 2016). Throughout the introductory speech, I
was surprised that I was able to control my nervousness. I just relied on verbal demonstration
rather than using text on slides. I believe that this strategy helps in grabbing the attention of the
viewers and also helps in introducing myself in a better way. Another surprising aspect of my
speech is that I made use of different facial expressions. As per my view, I could have done
better in some areas like speech and volume rate, apart from this, I believe that my overall
impression was good.
Identification of the Strengths and weaknesses
I believe that my first speech kept the audience interested and was effective. The
significant strength of my speech was that I delivered the speech in an organized and clear
manner. I possess various strengths, such as the ability to avoid mistakes without getting
frustrated, to quickly think and speak without feeling nervous and overwhelmed. I could have
improved my introduction as well as conclusion by asking open questions to the audiences to
engage them. Such open questions are considered to be a great way to begin the speech (Kaushik
& Rahman, 2016). I also believe that I could have also improved my active eye contact and voice
modulation.
