Importance of IT Disaster Recovery Plan and Benefits of PowerShell Software

This report discusses the importance of IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) for business continuity and the benefits of PowerShell software for system administration and automation. It covers the stages of DRP, risk assessment, and recovery strategies. IT Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is important for Business continuity. Besides, there
are various reasons behind the creation of DRP in an Information Technology (IT) firm.
Besides, many other companies have used IT DRP and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for
avoiding many risks and threats. Moreover, DRP is a part of the BCP of a firm, which is
useful for managing various things in business as well. In addition, businesses have different
types of risks and threats. In the present era, many firms have used IT-systems for managing
their business functions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and implement IT DRP and
BCP for handling risks and threats in their business because of different types of issues and
challenges (Pritchard, 2019).

In addition, there are few stages for managing all the things in a better way. Assembly
of the plan is the first stage of DRP in which many processes can be used for improving
productivity. DRP should identify the scope of the project, which is necessary for managing
all the things. Most of the people have used emergency contact numbers after the crisis for
managing various functions. Besides, a team is necessary to manage all the changes in the
plan. All the team members should assign roles and responsibilities as well. Data and
information must be backup at a different location. Besides, testing is necessary for DRP.
The analysis is necessary for the development and implementation of a DRP because
it has depended on the IT assets of a firm. Therefore, risk assessment has used for managing
various things of IT assets, such as security, privacy, and more. It is necessary to know about

the security of all the IT assets of a firm. Besides, poor security is the main reason for cyber-
attacks and other things, such as hardware failure, software bugs, and many more. However,
business impact analysis (BIA) is helpful in the development of a DRP. It has described about
the various types of risks of a business (Rouse, 2020).
Besides, only 25% of small businesses have a BCP in place. However, it is
necessary because of the usages of IT resources in the business as well (Ahdoot, 2019).
Besides, data is an important asset for a firm. Thus, a firm should secure their data center
using DRP and backup plans. Therefore, IT vulnerabilities should be identified for IT assets
to design and develop DRP and BCP. It can be managed using risk analysis as well. Based on
the risk analysis, a firm can identify recovery strategies (Schiff, 2016).

Besides, testing of DRP is necessary because the recovery plan needs work before any
disaster rather than after the disaster. Besides, training is necessary for employees to handle
different types of disasters using DRP. Besides, the update is necessary for DRP based on
different types of IT vulnerabilities. DRP is different from security plans, as it has used after
the disaster as well (Edwards, 2017). Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are not
having proper security systems for their IT assets, which is easier for hackers to hack whole
systems for different purposes. Thus, SMEs should develop and implement DRP for business
continuity and avoid financial losses as well (Guta, 2017).

Thus, a firm should develop DRP for handling cyber-attacks and natural disasters
(Shaw, 2018). Disasters can be happened because of many reasons. However, it is necessary
to manage all those issues and challenges correctly. Power is a huge issue in front of many
firms, which can be managed using sustainable development and renewable energy sources.
It will improve the basic power management systems, which is a good part of a system as
well. Besides, hardware fault has faced by many firms, which can be managed using basic
processes. Natural disasters are affected by the whole business, which is more than 20 %.
However, onsite disasters have taken more than 10%, which can be reduced using proper
monitoring.
In addition, good quality is necessary for the hardware management. Therefore, it can
be reduced hardware faults. More than 35 percent error has occurred because of human
errors. It can be reduced using the training and education of employees. However, more than
30 percent of faults generated because of computer viruses and malfunctions. Thus, security
systems have required for avoiding all the systems as well as Besides, training is a new cory
part of the whole process, which has improved the knowledge of team members (Watts,
2018). There are many benefits of DRP and BCP, which areas:
Cost-Efficiency
A firm can increase cost-efficiency using DRP, as disasters make a huge impact on
the financial status as well as reputation. Branding has affected from disasters as well. Thus,
DRP can be used to avoid such types of challenges.
Increased Employee Productivity
Employees can improve their productivity, as DRP can provide lost and damage data
and information from backups. In addition, employees have used many things for managing
all the functions. Employees can change data and information from backup files as well. Data
can be safe using this approach. It is better than other processes. It is cost-effective, but it is
beneficial for business as well.
Greater Customer Retention
Customer satisfaction is necessary for better branding in the market. Secure data and
other things have created faith in the customers as well. Besides, customers have provided
more business to the company as well. It is necessary for profit as well.

A Better Understanding of Scalability
A firm can improve the business functions based on the DRP and BCP as well. It has
provided better scalability of various products and services. Besides, DRP has used for the
scalability of a business as well. It has managed in a better way. Moreover, employees can
increase their skills using various things and practices. Mostly, firms have used different
types of services for managing all the things in a proper manner (Evolveip, 2020).

(Guru, 2020).

The scripts files have saved in the .ps1 extension, which can be used for monitoring
and controlling various processes. It can be run manually as well as automated. In addition,
batch functions can be used for handling multiple works at a time, which is increasing the

speed of a system as well. Most of the people have used various processes to manage internal
scripts of a system, which is good for administrations as well as other functions that can be
managed using batch scripts. A cmdlet is a PowerShell command with a predefined function,
that is similar to an operator in a scripting language. Besides, there are different types of
cmdlets, which are system, users and custom based. It has provided output in object form as

integrating with the Windows OS. There are some basic features of scripting in the
administration of servers and other domains. In this tool, the run time environment has used

administration. Thus, the basic process can be monitored using various scripts in which
different types of commands have used as well. In addition, Windows Servers can be
managed using the proper controlling of system processes. There is some scripting language,
which has used different concepts of scripting for the development of software, such as C#. it
can manage multiple tasks with a single process as well. A script can be used for managing al
those processes in a better way (Skur, 2018).
Besides, PowerShell software can be used for managing different functions, in
addition, aliases can be used for administrating various processes. Besides, many scripts can
be used for alternative functions. Most of the functions can be used for managing all the
processes. Besides, PowerShell can be used for other purposes as well. It can be integrated
with different processes. In advance systems, PowerShell can be used for many functions.

server as well as other networks. Moreover, fundamentals have used for scriptings, such as
variables, operations, and many others. The syntax is very important in the field of scripting
language. Thus, it is necessary to manage all the functions as well. There are many features in
this tool, which can be used for managing batch functions as well. Command line arguments

have used for improving the results as well. Therefore, domains can be managed using
cmdlets as well (Alexander, 2019).
