This document discusses the principles of support in health and social care practice, the procedure for protecting clients, patients, and colleagues from harm, and the benefits of a person-centered approach in health and social care services. It also addresses ethical dilemmas and conflict in East and West Care Home, as well as the role, responsibilities, accountabilities, and duties of the health care team. Additionally, it provides recommendations for meeting good practice and requirements in the organization.

Introduction:
East and west care home is located in London providing care and support to vulnerable and
elderly people (Cqc.org.uk, 2017). The service users does not come within the fixed geographic
locale but have been visiting the care home from different places of diverse ethnicity, religious
ground, socio-cultural grounds. Besides, the physical ad medical needs vary from people to
people. According to the recent analysis, there have been certain problems as reported by the
families and residents in regards to the quality of care, staff and management errors, clinical care
standards, treatment, and supervision. The paper studies the importance of the health and social
care services in regards to the management and treatment of the East and west care home and its
contribution to the development and implementation of health and social care organizational
policy.
Task 1:
Principles of support in health and social care practice:
The health and social care practices hold certain principles that help in guiding and supporting
the health care team and the patients. The principles of support areimplemented by the health
care team with dignity in adult social care. The principles are applied for workforce
improvisation and development for any member be it patient, colleagues or the members within
the social care practice (Roskiet al.2014). The principles are important and relevant within the
setting in which care and support is provided to patients.With the application of the principlesof
support the health care team will be able to promote good and stable mentalhealthfor the patients
suffering from depression, mental issues, disorder, and other factors. All the staff or the members
of the care services are working efficiently in curing the patients through support and medical
care.The principles provide a systematic framework for the social care workforce to serve in
serving quality care, strengthen mental health, support the members and patients who lack care
and support (Baird et al.2014). The service provider in relation to the East and west care home
can follow the opinion of the patient and other professionalswho will help in limiting the risk and
danger, and cultural and social problems. The principles of support state the need of awareness to

every member, staff of the disease and care and treatment and maintain confidentiality of service
users within the health and social care practice.
1.2 The procedure for protecting clients, patients and colleagues from harm:
In relation to support of health acre it is important to protect and safeguard the patients, members
and staff from any kind of harm. Protecting one from harm is a moral and legal responsibility
and one needs to commit to support, respect and value the dignity of a patient or an individual
along with developmental disabilities. One of the ways the health care team of Eastand West care
home is to implement the practice of use of certain dose like single dose and single-use under the
guidelines of The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention’s that should be used for only one
patient (Hébert et al. 2015). Such an effective practice will protect patients from life-threatening
diseases and infections that happens only when medications get affected due to unsafety use.
Safety precaution and awareness will help in guiding the patients towards understanding of the
occurrence of disease. Individual safety needs constant learning that can be fostered by the health
care team among the members, staff and patients (Pietrantonioet al. 2013). Besides, another
major protective measure is the injection safety that is the responsibility of every provider. For
instance, there can be minor error when injecting medications into sterile sites, such as the spine
or any sensitive area.
1.3 Benefit of a person-centred approach with users of health and social care
services:
A person-centred approach attempts to help any health care organization provide identified,
accessible, responsive, effective and flexible services that will help in meeting the individual
needs and requirements of patients as well as staffs (Ward et al.2016) . There are multiple
individuals try to stay independent and rely on the care system like that pf East and West Care
Home. The benefits of person-centred approach are as follows:
It allowspatients have greater control over their individual lives so that they can make their own
choices of care and services. It allows the individuals in deciding as to how to access care and
how and when they are the necessary care be delivered.

It helps in supporting the health care staff in providing value and needs according to individual’s
requirement and wants. Besides it is important to assess the individual experience and
accordingly support them to retain independence and dignity within the workforce environment
(Sims, and Cabrita, 2014).
The East and West Care home need to be provide culturally and socially appropriate responses
and care that will foster health care and organization’s reputation and strengthen the foundation
in delivering Consumer Directed Care
Ethical dilemmas and conflict:
In relation to East and West Care home have certain ethical issues as addressed under the Care
Quality Commission. The mangers of different departments were unable to report major
incidents to the CQC; could not meet individual needs; were unable to identify and examine
quality of services and care that led to disappointment; did not assess the risks in relation to
individual health care and safety; could not respond to the complaints or allegations of abuse to
the clients, patients on satisfactory level; did not have proper and effective arrangements for
protection and others (McKee, 2013.).

4.1 Role, responsibilities, accountabilities and duties in the context of working
with those within and outside the health and social care workplace:
There are key personnel in health care management team of East and West Care Home that
caters to the individual development and well-being of patients through support and mental care.
The manager is one of the most important of all who need to account and report the ongoing that
include treatment, customer satisfaction, query and complaints, needs and requirements of clients
and patients, occupational safety and management (Ventola, 2014). While the health care team
that involve nurses, professionals, and others need to cater to individual growth and development
and follow the care home’s policies and principles. The most important responsibility being the
protection of health, safety, welfare of the patients and ensure that everyone is protected from all
sorts of harm and control risks to health and workforce safety. The health care team and the
manager need to maintain and follow their duties and roles under the Healthy and Safety

Information for Employees Regulations that provides an outline to the health and safety law
(Nancarrowet al. 2013).
4.2 Contribution to the development and implementation of health and social
care organizational policy:
It is important to identify and evaluate the opportunities that will help the East and West Care
Home to progress; foster relationships among the clients, patients and heath care team; make
active contributions in the development of health care support and mental health treatment;
maintaining account of confidentiality. However, the most important contributions towards the
development of the health care and organizational policy is to reflect positive environment that
strengthens and boost one’s thoughts and makes one feel happy and active. In implementing the
organizational policy, the manger need to make every member understand learn of the skills and
knowledge guided by values and ethics that will help in carrying out competent practice. The
implementation of health care organizational policy needsadequate resources that will be
necessaryduring relevant situations (Grimshawet al. 2016). The policy need to cater towards the
economic structure, social institutions and political regulations and terms that will protect and
maintain organizational commitment.
4.3 Recommendations towards meeting good practice and requirements:
In maintain good practice and favourable work environment it is important for the organization
in establishing best practices, methods, strategies under the advice of professionals and available
evidence. The initial step is to formulate a framework with appropriate information in regards to
the organizationalobjectivesfollowing the evaluation of possible outcomes. The activities and
policy of the health care home needs to be assessed under the Health Technology assessment,
Evidence-Based Medicine, Clinical Practice Guidelines in generating effective decisions of
health-care service and safety. The most important part Is toa point professionals, employees,
staff and management team who needs to be given their responsibilities according to their
experience and learning and also be trained under health care professional team that will enhance
the overall performance. The manager need sketch the policies and approaches while embracing
strategy towards maintaining best practices. Without collective approach, there can be no
possible value to the work structure thereby every individual need to put effort in maximizing the

quality of the health care and service and establish to synthesize, implement and monitors best
possible practices.
