Issues in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Art
It is needed to take into consideration that the value of the art for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander has the specific importance. As per the Bell’s Theorem, in the case of the manifesto,
it is found to underpin the work which would mean as the long-standing inequities for the
Aboriginal art market. Bell has noted that there is a severe issue for marketing and selling this
artistic product in the market as if Aboriginal people use to produce this artwork, another
non-aboriginal people would not work or control the market for selling that art product.
For this reason, in 1980, the international aboriginal art market is found to commence with. In
the case of subsequent efflorescence along with the aboriginal art production, it has improved
the cash economy with the art created by international renowned Aboriginal artists (Australia
Council for the Arts, 2018).
Thereby, in case of processing those artworks, several problems are found, like,
1. It has been found that there romantic as well as the exotic art are sometimes replaced by
the images of the contemporary Aboriginal people.
2. Another issue is found with the exploitation of language spoken by the Aboriginal and
Torres Strait people.
3. The issue is also found with the land rights and this is being shown through the painting on
behalf of the Aboriginal people (ACT Government, 2017).
4. There is also the absence of constructive critique and lack of which, there is no adequate
growth of Aboriginal art as required with the time.
5. Again, the Aboriginal art would not include the exclusive category than that of
contemporary artists who are not within the Aboriginal team.

Thereby, it can be concluded that although there are so many issues, it is only the art created
by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders which represents the original and old age art for
Australia.
