AVIATION MANAGEMENT
Station Manager’s Initial Reaction
It is highly difficult for a station manager to take care of each and every problems in
an airport especially in a busy airport like that of Nadi where flights are abundant and there is
hardly any time to address the different kinds of the challenges in a proper manner. The
following situation where the Aircraft has got out-of-trim is always considered to be a
priority situation for the ground level staffs and the station manager. The situation must be
addressed within few time as it is an emergency situation and the management has to offload
some goods as well as some passengers from the flight which again is sure to draw ire from
the side of the passengers. In the present situation a minimum of 10 persons are needed to be
offloaded from the flight to ensure the smooth operations of the flight. Such a process will
also involve a large amount of time and will lead to a loss of some 1 to 2 hours from the
actual time of the flight. The main problem however lies in the smooth tackling of the
situation as the passengers who will be offloaded will be furious with such an arrangement.
The Manager of Nadi station must handle the situation with utmost precision and care to
avoid any kind of problems.

It is important for the manager of the Nadi to first get a thorough information of the
prevailing situation and then personally go and visit the carrier. The personal visit to the
carrier will help the airlines company to handle the situation in a much more professional
manner. The stations manager of the airport will have the right to decide on the offloading
process and he will take the final call after a thorough discussion with the pilot and the flight
engineer. The flight will be given the permit to depart after a thorough inspection of all the
systems after the offloading process. According to, Hird, Hawley & Machin, (2016) the
Stations manager will then provide the necessary clearance to the pilot to fly the aircraft. The
manager has to ensure the utmost safety and security of the flight before its scheduled
departure.
Process of handling the total Situation
As mentioned earlier, the station manager is the one who will be in charge to handle
the total situation. The station manager must confirm the news from the crew of the aircraft
and then will provide a personal visit to the aircraft. The task of the manager at that particular
time will be to assess the reason behind such a failure with the pilot and the aircraft engineer.
The offloading process of the goods and the passengers will be selected by the manager and
will be confirmed by the management of the airlines company. According to, De Neufville,
Budd & Ison, (2016) the selection process is totally non-biased and the passengers will be
selected according to the priority of the travel. The passengers will be selected and
understood the gravity of the situation and the risks to their life in case of travelling through
the flight. It is important for the station manager to make the best possible arrangement for
the passengers (De Neufville, Budd & Ison, 2016). The manager must provide them with the
amenities of business class lounge and also arrange free food for them. Apart from this the

manager has to take care about their journey to the destination and has to arrange seats for
them in the next fight to Perth. The manager of Nadi has to do this with the coordination of
the Airlines Company. The coordination of the airlines company will help the manager to
provide the best arrangement for the passengers. The manager can also provide special
services to the premium passengers or the passengers with disabilities. A special process to
complete such an arrangement is to increase the processing speed for the different carrier
based services. The increase in the processing speed helps to provide better and smooth
business services.
Listing the process, procedures as well as the actions
The different process, procedures and actions that can be implemented by the station
manager of Nadi includes the likes of the;
a. Proper check of the total aircraft including all the different safety features in a
thorough manner
b. The checking of the initial weighment of the aircraft that suffered an out-of-trim
c. Important for the manager to digitally check the centre of gravity for the aircraft that
suffered an out-of-trim
d. Conducting the other check-ups like taking note of the type of the aircraft whether it
is a Boeing or Airbus specified or any other kinds of aircraft
e. The weight of the passengers and the cabin crew
f. The weight of the luggage
g. Implementing the safety process for loading and unloading of the goods
h. The proper employment of the different kinds of safe procedures for the operations of
the aircraft
i. Providing the initial as well as the final clearances to fly the aircraft

k. Pre and post take off communication
Different assistance and solutions
The presence of a number of different types of strategies that are maintained before
and after the take-off of the flight is quite important for the station manager. The process
must be followed in a proper and efficient manner by the station manager to ensure the proper
and safe procedures to handle aircrafts (Arabali et al. 2017). The implementation of the
following strategies helps the safety of the aircrafts. This helps in reduction of flight delays
and also helps to avoid any problems during landings or take offs. The presence of an online
communication with the station manager can also help in the removal of different problems
(Wang, Pham & Truong, 2018). The station manager of Nadi Airport, in this particular case
must be ready with the necessary answers to ensure least problems and issues from the side of
the passengers.
