AVIATION MANAGEMENT
Station Manager’s Initial Reaction
It is highly difficult for a station manager to take care of each and every problems in
an airport especially in a busy airport like that of Nadi where flights are abundant and there is
hardly any time to address the different kinds of the challenges in a proper manner. The
following situation where the Aircraft has got out-of-trim is always considered to be a
priority situation for the ground level staffs and the station manager. The situation must be
addressed within few time as it is an emergency situation and the management has to offload
some goods as well as some passengers from the flight which again is sure to draw ire from
the side of the passengers. In the present situation a minimum of 10 persons are needed to be
offloaded from the flight to ensure the smooth operations of the flight. Such a process will
also involve a large amount of time and will lead to a loss of some 1 to 2 hours from the
actual time of the flight. The main problem however lies in the smooth tackling of the
situation as the passengers who will be offloaded will be furious with such an arrangement.
The Manager of Nadi station must handle the situation with utmost precision and care to
avoid any kind of problems.
