Executive Summary
This research paper has focused on the happiness index of the UAE Citizen abroad and other
people who visit therepresentative offices of the UAE. The policies adopted by the Prime
Minister and Vice President of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai were properly outlined to
highlight the effort of the government for the satisfaction of the citizens. The tourism and
travel authorities of UAE addressed the opinions of the visiting tourists for educational and
professional purposes. The expatriates were satisfied with the norms and policies of the UAE
government and they liked to live the travel experience.

Introduction
Background of the study
In the modern world, it is necessary that the Government of the countries maintain
sure that the people residing in the area and the people visiting it remain happy and satisfied.
The role of the Government and the Represents Offices play a vital role for the development
of the country and of the people. In the UAE, it has been seen that the country is ranked 19th
as the happiest country in the world and has recorded a 7.2 point of the life evaluation (Spiro
2016). Maintaining the happiness and satisfaction of the people that reside in the country or
abroad is the main aim of the Government of the UAE. Therefore, it is necessary that the
Consulate and the Government of the UAE manage to keep the people safe. The research
provides an idea about the type of services that is provided by the UAE Government in order
to ensure that the people of the country does not have to suffer from any type of grievances
while staying the country. At the same time, proper care is taken of the people that reside
outside the UAE. The embassies of the country located in the foreign lands provide excessive
support to the people residing in outside the UAE (Remy-Miller 2017).
Importance of the topic
Every people in the world look to maintain peace and reside happily without having to
be a victim of violence or insubordination. Therefore, a happiness indicator can be used to
understand the level of happiness that the people of a country have. In the case of the UAE, it
has been seen that the Government tries to provide happiness to the people residing in the
region and outside the country. According to Daleure (2016), this is important, as it is
important that the Government provide support to the people residing outside the country.
Therefore, it is necessary that the Consulate provideevery support to the people so that they
can maintain their happiness in the countries.Therefore, it is necessary to apply this indicator

outside the country so that the happiness indicator can be implemented and spread among the
other countries. The Government also ensures that the UAE people lead a life of happiness
and luxury while residing in other countries.
Problem statement
The research defines the effectiveness of happiness indicator and the manner in which
the people of the UAE can receive support from the Government and the Representative
Offices. Happiness indicator helps in identifying the level of support provided by the leaders
of the UAE to the common people. Therefore, the current mode of support system and
recommended future measures to enhance the support system can be considered. Support
need to be provided to the UAE citizen that reside outside the UAE for work and study or any
other purpose, At the same time it is also necessary to ensure that the people residing within
the country receive similar support so that they do not have to face any type of difficulties
while residing.
Significance of the research
The research can help in understanding the level of happiness that is provided by the
Representative Offices and the leaders of the UAE to the people. It has been seen that without
proper happiness and satisfaction people in a country may have to suffer from problems.
Therefore, the research identifies the happiness indicator and provides proper analysis of the
services provided by the UAE Representative Offices. It has been seen that the
representatives of the UAE are scattered across different countries and due to this, it is
necessary that the country and its Government provide proper support. This can help the
people in maintaining proper happiness and satisfaction. The relationship is such that a
psychological comfort is developed between the people of the country and the leaders of the
country. It is necessary to maintain the laws of each country and ensure that the concerned
Government provides a proper idea about the laws surrounding the country.Therefore, the

Research aim
The aim of the research is to identify the manner in which the level of happiness and
satisfaction of the people residing in the UAE and outside is maintained. The research aims to
analyse the role of the Government and the Representative Officesthat provide support for the
growth of the people and its satisfaction. The research provides an overview of the global
happiness rank of the country and the contribution made by the leaders of the country to
ensure that these people remain happy and satisfied in the countries that they have visitedfor
either official purpose or others purpose.

Literature review
Concept of happiness index
According to Aristotle (1893), happiness index or indicators of happiness measure the
amount of happiness by posing a positive impact on decision- making. It is a quantitative
extent of the well- being and quality of life. Happiness index helps in measuring the progress
and benefits by periodical surveys and assessment. The outcome is referred to as the gross
national happiness index. It is based on equitable social development, preservation of specific
culture, securing environment and promoting good governance. The factors essential to
happiness are housing, jobs and income in terms of materialistic happiness. On the other
hand, the quality of life is measured by balance between life and work, safety, community,
education, satisfaction of life, environment, health and governance.
Happiness in UAE
The country of Unite Arab Emirates is passionate about spreading happiness.
AlGergawi (2017) mentioned that the extent of their interest in passion is clearly understood
when they had appointed a Minister of State for Happiness. Apart from that, they have
launched a National Program for Happiness and Positivity. This bears the proof that UAE
thinks about its citizens and their happiness. The Vice President, Prime Minister, the ruler of

Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has aimed to transform the
country totally based on happiness. He has planned to implement a methodological approach
based on science in order to assess, affect and sustain happiness in the entire area.
Approach of the UAE Prime Minister
The office of the Prime Minister has adopted a collaborative approach in order to
explore, visualize and develop a plan for the emerging days of the UAE to keep happiness at
the top of priority list to help the transformation of the area. The happiness agenda of the
Dubai smart office is monitoring the transformation of the area and it will be benefitted from
the implementation of innovation and technology. It will provide n opportunity for a wider
range of partnership connecting the most suitable tools. His Highness has personally written a
letter to all the government employees for reminding them about the provision of the most
premium quality of services so that they can attain maximum happiness. This letter bears the
fact that UAE is committed to effective leadership by generating happiness as the national
policy objective (Dha.gov.ae 2018).
According to government.ae (2018), all over the world, UAE is in the 20th position as
per the World Happiness Report of 2012-14. This report has shown that the extent of
happiness has increased by 2.5% from 2005. The citizens of Dubai are excited to announce
that they have the optimum balance of leadership, partnership and innovation, which are the
main criteria of enhancing and retaining happiness in Dubai. His Highness is dedicated to
continue the tradition of providing the citizens with maximum happiness as their topmost
priority. They have been marked as the standard of happiness and they want it to be followed
by their sister countries.

Mutual understanding of happiness
In the contemporary environment, the leaders and decision makers of society act as
per their informal knowledge base by assuming about the factors that provides happiness to
the place, as per Happy.ae (2018). They are devoted to establish a combined feeling of
happiness by initiating a structurally directed cultural edge and realizing the fundamental
requirements of the citizens. This is referred to as shared understanding for leading the
strategic activities, which prioritize happiness in the UAE and outside. If there is a lack in the
mutual understanding of happiness criteria in UAE then both the public and private sector of
the area will be unable to realize the effect of happiness on the part of city planning and
customer experiences. It is required to build a scientific framework relevant to the culture in
describing new policies and procedures to shed light on the place and its people on happiness.
The common people as well as the prominent leaders in the form of understanding and
controlling of the individual happiness factors will experience the benefit(Lama and Howard
1998).
Happiness indicators of consulate visitors
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has adopted the
values of excellence and constant improvement simultaneously with the provision of consular
and customer services abroad, as mentioned in Mofa.gov.ae. (2018). By aligning with the
commitment and contribution towards UAE’s struggle to stand as a prosperous and
sustainable country is integrated in a globalized and internationalized environment. The
Ministry has incorporated a much easy, rapid and efficient way of issuing visa to facilitate the
visiting procedures of the consulates. This is a modern and innovative procedure and referred
to as ‘exporting the border’. In this process, the foreign tourists can complete the entire
process of visa by sitting in their own hometown. The process has facilitated them to use the
technology of e- border system for accessing UAE freely. Therefore, UAE has introduced

different visa service centers all over the world to make the process much easier. The fast and
easy service along with a convenient mode of payment has increased the happiness criteria of
the foreign tourists visiting in UAE.
World Happiness Report 2018
As per Roberts (1974), the Minister of State for happiness and Well Being, Ohoudbint
Khalfan Al Roumi, ranked UAE among the 20 happiest countries in the world. It is a great
achievement on the part of the country and an outcome of UAE’s far- sightedness to attain
happiness and well- being of the citizen. The constant struggle and effort by the state and
central government of the country to implement an aura of happiness and well- being within
the society is considered as a significant objective within the regular operation of making
UAE as one of the happiest countries in the world. A 2015- 17 survey has declared Finland as
the happiest country in the world and the other countries include Australia, New Zealand,
Sweden, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Netherlands and Denmark. In the current
year, there is new indicators added n the list of measuring and assessing the happiness extents
among the expatriate in the host countries of the area. This has taken place as the number of
people living outside their countries is gradually increasing. The current report of 2018 has
brought UAE in the 19th position among the happiest countries in the world. UAE has ranked
ahead of the countries of UK, Belgium, Germany, France and Singapore (alukah.net 2015).
As per the Gallup World Poll result included in the happiness Report, UAE has come in the
top seven after assessing with 19 indicators to measure citizen’s satisfaction and happiness.
UAE has secured the top position by measuring with six indicators as follows. Convenience
of people from other places to live in the particular area; quantity of population employed in
full- time jobs; satisfaction level with regard to the efforts put for conserving environment;
being in the pink of health to carry out regular activities; satisfaction level with the
infrastructure of roads and railways; and use of mobile phones to make personal calls. UAE

has managed to secure second position in satisfaction with the access to quality of healthcare
and putting faith on the proper treat of the children in the country. This report was
responsible for assessing 156 countries based on their happiness levels and 117 countries
based on the happiness of their migrants.
Opinion of the foreigner tourists in terms of happiness
The tourists travelling to UAE had several questions regarding the terms and
conditions and the rules and regulations that they needed to follow for settling there. The
tourism authorities were cooperative and always helped in addressing any issue of the visiting
guests. The tourists visiting for a holiday were required to carry a visa along with a passport,
which had minimum of six months validity. Moreover, the individuals visiting for
employment purposes required sponsorship from the employer along with a work permit to
work in that specific country. However, the work permit needed to be sent directly to the
individual by the employer and not by the embassy. The tourists were extremely satisfied
with the immediate response that they got from the tourism and travel department of UAE
government. However, they had certain worries and inquisitiveness such as the cancellation
of the residency or employment visa. This enquiry was addressed properly when the officials
replied that only the employers and sponsors responsible for hiring the foreign individuals
could cancel the visa. The tourists were happy about the fact that the women were safe to stay
alone in UAE either for educational or for employment purposes. The tourists were also
satisfied the way they got assistance from the officials regarding details of working hours,
educational certificate and airline tickets and about the entry and exit policies (un.org. 2018).
National program for happiness
According to Roberts (1974), the Vice President, Prime Ministerand the Ruler of
Dubai, H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed and supervised the
national program. As per this program, the government, policies, programs and service are

implemented to improve the virtues of an affirmative lifestyle in the UAE community to
develop a plan for assessing the happiness index of the citizen’s satisfaction. According to the
national program, three areas have been specially focused. The areas include happiness of the
of the policies, programs, and services of the government officials at the employment
organization; promoting a positive environment and well- being in the community;
developing standards criteria for assessing happiness. This program will involve the Emiratis
along with the visiting tourists and the expatriates to motivate both the government and the
private sectors for implementing initiatives in this regard. The specific plan will also cover
the initiations targeted towards scientific and cultural content publication, happiness related
books and promotion of reading about the significance of positive and well- being in the
regular lifestyle. Sheikh Mohammed approved this program of happiness on 20 March 2016
to serve the purpose of National Charter for Happiness. A number of initiatives were
approved in order to develop a happy and satisfactory work environment at the government
offices of UAE (worldhappiness.report 2018).
Initiatives adopted for Happiness Index
As per Mofa.gov.ae (2018), there were certain initiatives adopted by the government
to develop a happiness index in the workplace of UAE. Few of those initiatives are outlined
below-
 Assign CEOs for the satisfaction and happiness of the entire government bodies
 Build up centers for happiness, well- being and positivity
 Transforming of the customer service centers to customer happiness centers
 Involve the annual index of happiness measures, reports and surveys to assess
satisfaction in the entire community

 Establish a standard form of corporate happiness and satisfaction of all the
government employees
Apart from the initiatives outlined, there are other initiatives related to labor happiness,labor
accommodation, happiest work environment, happiest bus and happiest SIM. All these
factors were integrated to make UAE as the first one in Arab world for consecutive years.
UAE government has addressed the issues of urban environment in the natural and man-
made assets to highlight the living experience of the citizens. Other economic aspects were
also considered in this respect. Thus, ‘Happiness Meter’ became the first strategic initiatives
for Dubai’s smart city.
Gap in the literature
The gap in the literature was found out in terms of the previous situation of UAE
when happiness was not assessed. The journals, websites and other documents, which were
reviewed, focused on the situation from the recent years. However, there were no significant
researches done on the condition of the workplace before the implementation of the national
happiness programs.
Methodology Design
Introduction
This particular chapter focuses on the methods that needs to apply to complete the
research in a manner. This research has applied the assistance of positivism philosophy,
deduction approach and the design of the research is descriptive in nature. At the same time,
help from quantitative and interview method modes of collection of data are considered in the
research. This can help to get accurate results and make proper justification of the choice of
the subject.

Bernard (2017) stated that the research philosophy helps in collecting and evaluating
the data that can help in analysing the topic in a relevant manner. The research philosophies
include interpretivism, positivism and realism philosophy. The interpretivism
philosophyassists the researcher in gathering information from real life experience. The
positivism philosophy provides information to the research based on the facts that are
relevant to the topic. On the other hand, Mertens (2014) stated thatthe realism
philosophycould be considered as a mixture that assists in collecting authentic information
keeping in mind the facts of the social relation. Therefore, in this particular research, the
researcher has adopted the application of positivism philosophy as it can help in the
collection of information that are authentic and based on the topic. At the same time, the
quality of the research can help in enhancing the research in an effective manner.
Research approach
The research approach is useful to gain proper information about the topic at hand.
The approach is selected keeping in mind certain variable that can be used for the proper
conduct of the research. According to Glaser and Strauss (2017), the research approach
mainly consists of two types of approaches, that is the indicative approach and the deductive
approach. The inductive approach can be useful for developing and applying new models to
meet the requirements of the researcher. The deductive approach analyses relevant theories
and models that can be linked with the topic of the research.In this case, the application of the
deductive approach can help the researcher to reduce the time of the process. Therefore, an
effective result had been achieved and the budget of the research has been kept under control.
Research design
In order to continue a research in a proper and effective manner it is necessary to
collect relevant information based on the understanding of the topic. The topic can help in

understanding the variables of the research. According to Riff, Lacy and Fico (2014),
research design is considered as the overall method that helps in the communication and the
completion of the data collection and analysis. Completing a data using the research design
involves multiple target samples. The application of both qualitative as well as quantitative
research can be applied in the research design. Therefore, it can provide a detailed idea about
the level of happiness among the people in the UAE.
The application of any three types of research designs can help in the effective
conduct of research (Smith 2015). The types include explanatory, descriptive and exploratory
design.The explanatory research design can help researchers establish a relationship among
the different variable of a research topic. The descriptive research design assist in providing a
detailed explanation of the topic related to the research. Bryman (2017) is of the opinion that
the application of the exploratory research design can help in identifying the background of
the research.
Apart from this,Bryman and Bell (2015) stated that other research designs include
longitudinal design, case-study method, comparative design and experimental design. The
longitudinal design provides an idea about the changes in the population of a country within a
time. Therefore, this research design cannot be used in this particular topic, as the aim is to
identify multiple targets for the research.The case study design can be used in this research,
as the amount of information regarding the topic is excess. However, a single case cannot
determine the effectiveness of the topic.
Berger (2015) is of the opinion that the comparative design can help in comparing the
variables by analysing the multiple cases. However, given the topic of the research, this
method cannot be used to understand the level of happiness for the people of UAE. The
experimental design provides a hypothesis texting that can be used to establish relationships

between the variables. The constant variability of the research is compared with the other
variables. It can be said that the research is conducted using the descriptive research design so
that the variables can be analysed in a proper manner. This particular research design can
help in the gathering of insights related to the topic so that the research objectives and
questionnaire can be analysed.
Research strategy
The research strategy helps in gathering information relevant to the topic of the
research. Various strategies can be used that can in the completion of a research in a proper
and specific manner(Hussein 2015). For example, in the case of conducting an analysis by
using primary data, the researcher can apply the effective application of survey and interview
as a fruitful strategy. At the same time, the application of case studies and focus groups can
helpto gain information by analysing news articles and journals. For the purpose of this
particular research, the strategy applied is the primary data collection. I used the survey
method as well as the interview so that the objectives of the research can be met and the
research questions can be answered.
Reliability and Validity
According to McNabb (2015), the reliability and validity of the data can be related
with the authenticity with which the data are collected.Reliability of a research can be
measured using three indicators that are primary as well as effective for the research. These
indicators include stability, reliability and interpreter reliability. Stability to the strength of
the data that is collected over a period. The measurement of the data is done over specific
time gap so that the information can be gathered and measured properly.
Reliability can be judged based on the similarity index of the results along with the
application of the research design and methods. The consistency of the indicators helps in

Gunaydin(2015)stated that the interpreter reliability could assist individuals by measuring the
consistency of the observers. In this case the application of the test and retest, method can be
useful in determining the validity of the research.
Validity can be measured by considering a number of aspects that help in defining the
purpose of a research. Bryman (2015) stated that the validity of the research vary between
individuals. Validity of the research can be held over time depending upon the results.
Therefore, in this case, the research aims at identifying the level of happiness that is provided
by the leaders of the UAE so that its people can understand the modifications required to gain
support from them.
Research Concept
The concept of a research forms the building blocks of a research. This can be the
formulated aims and goals the help to find out relevant answers. Therefore, it is important
that a particular concept can be implemented for the application of the qualitative and
quantitative research methods.Hence, the variablesinvolved in the topic can be explained
without much effort. In this research, the concept developed is the happiness index for the
citizen of UAE. The focus is mainly on the tourists and the people residing outside the
country. At the same time, the research aims to establish the relationship between the foreign
residents with the Representative Offices members. It has been seen that the legislations of
the laws of the countries have a direct influence on the happiness of the people belonging to
foreign lands.
Data Collection
The data collection method helps in identifying the proper manner in which research
can be conducted in an effective manner.In this case, the research aims to identify the level of

happiness of the UAE people living outside the country. Therefore, the quantitative research
can be applied so that the target population can be measured for calculating the happiness
index. Nardi (2018) is of the opinion that the quantitative research is considered as the
statistical calculations that help in identifying the variables of the target population. This can
help in meeting the research objective that tries to understand the factors that influence the
factor involved in the happiness index. Therefore, the survey method can be used that can
help in identifying the target population.
The target market can be provided with a close-ended questionnaire method that can
be used to analyse the responses of the people residing in the foreign countries. At the same
time, the qualitative approach can help in collecting data that aims to provide responses to the
relationship between the satisfaction of the people and the laws of the countries. This can
even help in identifying ways to achieve justice in a foreign land. Brannen (2017) is of the
opinion that the qualitative purpose of the research can be satisfied by conducting an
interview session between 2 tourists and 1 businessman. This can allow the renders to
provide a detailed view of the experiences they have in the foreign countries.
Therefore, the application of this model of data collection can help in the effective of
the future and ensure that polices and agreements can be developed to understand the level of
happiness that exists between people. The researcher has alsoasked the responses from 20
tourists so that quality of data can be increased that in turn can help in the evaluation of the
research.
Sample selection
The research has been conducted by analysing the responses provided by 20 tourists
in the UAE. At the same time an interview method is conducted that consists of 2 tourists and
1 businessman.

analysing the reliability and validity of the research. In the case of this particular research
topic, analysis of the happiness index requires collecting data responses from the people
residing outside the UAE. Therefore, the size of the population is large and scattered. This
can alter the validity of the data collection results. Therefore, small section of the target
market can be analysed by using the sampling of the population. According to Davies and
Hughes (2014), sampling is used in academic research so that small sections of a large
population can be identified. Therefore, the sampling method can be both probabilistic and
non-probabilistic sampling mainly because the approaches are varied from one another. The
application of the probabilistic sampling method can help in the analysis of data using
quantitative research. On the other hand, the application of the non-probabilistic sampling
method can help to undertake a qualitative approach. At the same time, the application of
stratified random sampling can help in stratifying the population with respect to the
characteristics of the data. In this case, the strata can be the tourists, students and business
professionals. However, the sampling is done based on the tourists. The questionnaire for the
sample method can be effective based on the random selection model. The application of the
non-probability method for this particular sampling is the managing of criteria for providing
responses to the sample questions. At the same time, sampling error can be expected because
of the application of qualitative approach. Therefore, the validity of the sampling is reduced
in the selected process (Noble and Smith 2015).Hence, stratified sampling method can be
used for reducing the biasness.
Data analysis
The data analysis can help while selecting the tools that are useful for conducting the

travellers. The demographic factors indicate that the research has been conducted by taking in
to consideration themajority male travellers who belong to the age group of 18-25 years. The
travellers are married and employed, which indicates that they need to provide support to
their family in a better manner. The survey that was conducted has also shown that most of
the male travellers travel often between the range of 1-2 and 3-4 times annually. The
viewpoint of the male travellers has been taken in to account so that it can help in reducing
the consumption of time and the research can be conducted in a proper manner.

view of the place. These data are protected so that it does not mislead the travellers in the
wrong direction. It takes in to account the comments that are based on promoting
discrimination within the region along with the activities that are illegal in nature. It also
takes in to consideration the intellectual property rights along with the legal requirements.

I conducted the survey based on the emotional problems that the respondents may
face with their partner. The responses of the travellers stated that they do not face any

increase in the level of satisfaction among the travellers so that they can visit the country
again, which would be beneficial for the local economy. It would also result in increasing the
foreign exchange currency in the economy so that the prices in the international market can
be controlled by the country.

The respondents of the survey that was conducted by myself have stated that they
have never felt discriminated in the country where they are visiting, as it might affect their
level of satisfaction with respect to that country. It will also hamper the basic rights that are
available to the travellers, which might create a negative impact on the performance of the
country. The other side effects are that the travellers will not refer others to visit the country
due to the discrimination that they would face in the country. This would have a negative
impact on the country as well on its performance. There would be less international
transactions on a global manner as well. The country may also face threats from other
countries, which would increase its chances of changing the rules and policies that are present
within the country. The economy of the country may also get affected that will also have an
impact on the local population. The travellers of the country have never faced any
discrimination, which will affect their level of satisfaction in a positive manner.
Interview method
The interview was conducted on three persons that were interested to travel in other
countries due to various reasons. The interview method consisted of five questions so that the
knowledge of the culture of travel can be studied along with the indicator of happiness.

The first personto interview was Khaled Juma'aAlHosani, tourist. According to him,
the UAE Government takes care of the needs and demands of the person both at home and
away. The expansion into the different countries in the form of opening up of embassies and
the representative offices have provided evidence that the UAE is looking to gain a sting
foothold in the international boundaries.The Consular offices and the presentative offices for
the citizens provide support at any time. This provides evidence about the UAE looks after its
citizens.
An interview has been conducted in order to collect appropriate responses regarding the
services offered by the embassy or the UAE MOFAIC abroad. The responses were quite
appreciable. The interviews shared their perspectives regarding the quality of services
provided by the embassies. In this regard, they rightly commented that the services proved to
be beneficial to them. The services were so convenient that it provided adequate support to
both the citizens and non-citizens for during their good times and during times of difficulty.
The services were also proved to be beneficial in meeting the requirements of the daily life of
the interviewees. In this regard, it is noteworthy to mention here that, the responses of the
interviewees were satisfactory.
When the interviewees were asked about the issues of internal law faced by them
while travelling, the responses were positive. The interviewees commented that as they travel
regularly so therefore, they were aware of the fact that they could contact the embassy
whenever necessary. The interviewees stated that in case of any issues, it could not be solved
with proper assistance on the part of the embassies. According to them, these embassies have
formed good relations with the local people. Therefore, it was stated that they were aware of
the internal laws.

The interviewees were asked about the experiences while visiting the UAE’s embassy
or any representative of the offices of the UAE. The interviewees shared their opinion
efficiently. According to them, the reception at the embassy created psychological comfort.
During the first meeting, it became obvious that the staffs of the embassy were eager to
receive and resolve the issues faced by the interviewees. The staffs provided them with
relevant information about which they were looking for. The staffs also directed them
towards the right action, which proved to be beneficial while dealing with the concerned
authorities. Therefore, according to them much time is saved from being wasted while
looking for things, which were outside the authority of the visitors.
The interviewee was questioned about their skills and knowledge while travelling. In
this regard, the experiences shared by them are worth mentioning. The interviewee stressed
on the fact that he does not depend upon the consequences rather than harming anyone with
his behaviour. The interviewee follows the widely recognized international rules of
travelling. This is due to the reason that, at the end of the day, the interviewee analyzes the
experiences of travel as fun and enjoyment rather than creating tensions because he
represents himself and not his family and country.
When asked that whether the government of UAE takes care of the happiness at home
and abroad, the interviewee replied that he belong to a country where the government has
tried their best in developing and maintaining the life of the citizens. The most important
thing about living in UAE was that he has not experienced racism.
The businessman had other opinion about the support provided by UAE. When asked
about the satisfaction of the services provided by the UAE MOFAIC abroad, the interviewee
stated that the UAE MOFAIC provides quality services by spreading knowledge and
awareness among the citizens. The services offered by them, which are known as Twajudi

has proved to be beneficial for people in registering their personal information. These
services kept track and records of the areas of travel, which were covered by the visitors.
When asked about the problems faced with any internal laws, the interview stated that
from the very beginning, the representatives were conscious about the laws of the country.
However, it is considered as the duty of the interviewee to possess adequate knowledge
regarding the laws and regulations of the country in which he is visiting.
When asked about the experiences of visiting the UAE’s embassy, the interviewee
stated that the representatives of the UAE embassy are very welcoming and the citizens of the
country are very satisfied with the services provided by them. The embassy takes care of the
safe living conditions of the visitors and their environment is so clean that provides the
visitors with a homely feeling.
When asked about the details of travelling skills and knowledge, the interviewee
replied that he was always involved in opportunities, which could provide education. The
interview emphasized, that because of travelling, individuals have been able to learn from
their mistakes. People are now conscious about the consequences of travelling.
The second tourist when asked that whether the UAE government takes care of the
happiness at home or abroad, the interviewee opined that, he is living in a country where the
government has implemented various programs for maintaining the life of the citizens.
When the interviewee was asked that whether he is satisfied with the services offered
by the embassy, the interviewee opined that high-quality life was provided by the UAE
embassy for improving the safety conditions of the visitors. A service termed as Twajudi is
being offered by the embassy, which allows the visitors to register their personal information

and their travelling details for keeping their safety measures in track every time they are
travelling.
When the interviewee was asked about the experiences faced by them while visiting
the offices of the representatives of the UAE, the response was convenient. According to his
perspective, he felt that the environment of the offices of the UAE representatives was very
calm and it felt as home. The employees seemed to be very kind, professional and
knowledgeable according to the interviewee. The staffs could easily solve any problem
without any difficulty on their part.
When asked about the skills and knowledge of the interviewee while travelling, the
responses were satisfactory as well. In this regard, it was emphasized by the interviewee that,
most of the people faced various issues while travelling and therefore their experiences has
been taken into account for the purpose of spreading awareness and educating the views of
the general public to a large extent. At the end, the interview stated that visitors do not
represent themselves as individuals they represent UAE.
Discussions
Conclusion
After the analysis of the literature review and the results of the survey and interview,
it can be said that the happiness index is required for understanding the level of peace and
care that the Government of the countries provide. In the case of the UAE, the fact that it is
ranked as the 19th happiest countries in the world provides it with an opportunity to boast
about its support to the people. The analysis show that the Prime Minister of the country have
taken systematic steps in promoting happiness in the country and the manner in which it can

help the people residing outside the country. An optimum balance is maintained between the
leaders, partners and innovators of the country so that effective happiness can be maintained.
The shared understanding between the people and the leaders defines the quality of
happiness imparted by the people. At the same time, the analysis of the survey and interview
method suggests that about 60% of the people residing in the UAE or getting assistance from
the Government of the country are satisfied with the acts of the leaders. At the same time,
during any problems related to health care, the country provides assistance for the people.
The interview of the tourists and businessperson also suggest that the country is a good
choice for conducting business and for travelling. Thus, it can be said that the rank of the
UAE as one of the top happiest countries in the world is justified.
Linking with objectives
To identify the factors that constitutes the happiness indicator in a country
The factors that constitute the happiness in the UAE provide an idea about the manner
in which the country can provide care and peace for the people. It has been seen from the
interview that the tourists and other people of the country can ensure that the happiness
indicator remains as high as it currently is stated.
To understand the importance of happiness indicator
The importance of the happiness indicator provides an understanding of the standard
of living of the people. Without understanding the happiness of the people,the leaders of
UAE cannot provide the support that the people needs. Therefore, it needs to be seen that the
happiness indicator providesa proper analysis of methods adopted by the Government of the
UAE.

To identify the target audience for the research
The target audience of the research includes tourists,businesspeople and others that
reside in the country or outside it. The analysis of the interview shows that the target
audience provide a proper response about the level of happiness provided by the country.
To understand the relationship for the application of the happiness indicator
The relationship for the application of the happiness indicator is the fact that the
people of the UAE and the leaders ensure that a proper communication is established between
one another. This can help in understanding the level of cooperation and support of the
people.
To establish a link between the satisfaction of the people and the law of the foreign
countries
The link between the satisfaction of the people and the law of the foreign countries is
that the laws do not gel well with one another. Therefore, it is necessary that the people of the
UAE who have migrated in other parts of the country maintain a proper relationship with the
Government of the particular country. This can help them to gain support from both the
Government of the existing country and the Representative Offices of the UAE Government.
To achieve justice by maintaining the law of the country
The laws of every country need to be maintained so that people can live in harmony
with the leaders. Without maintaining the proper law, the people in the UAE cannot gain the
support from the leaders. Thereby, it is necessary for the country to promote the importance
of the law and ensure that justice is achieved by following the rules.

Recommendation
Hence, it can be recommended that in order to maintain the level of happiness for the
people, the UAE Government need to ensure that it maintains proper monitoring of the
people outside the country. The visit from the consulate provides an idea for the people about
the manner in which the UAE Government manages to treat its people. Therefore, it is
necessary that the UAE Government maintain such relations with the consulate of the other
countries. It is also necessary that the law of the countries in which the people are residing be
maintained so that there remains no hindrance about the breaking of rules and regulations.
The support provided by the UAE embassies to its members is strong but need to abide by the
rules and regulations of the concerned country. For this it is necessary that the consulate
promote the rules and regulations of the country and ensure that the people from the UAE get
the required support from the Government. At the same time, recommendation can be made
in the manner in which such happiness can be maintained. The support of the Government
and the Consulate visitors can promote the proper happiness among the people of the UAE.
Limitations
Limitations to the study were mainly due to the short amount time that was present for
the completion of the study. This is mainly because the amount of data was present was large
and generalising it required extra effort. The budget was less and thereby it provided a
hindrance in the use of expensive quantitative techniques. The application of expensive
techniques could have helped in conducting the research in a better manner. At the same
time, there were difficulties in collecting the data as the tourists, businesspeople or others
remained busy, and most tourists did not like the idea of providing a survey due to the fear of
intimidating the Government. The active participants of the respondents were missing and the
respondents needed to be constantly reminded about undertaking the survey.
