Introduction
Academics skills are defined as the behavioural aspects which have learned by the students while
acquiring education at the learning and educational institute. These skills are essential to operate
successfully at the higher level of education and practicing these skills leads to the development
of a graduate attributes such as communication skills, problem solving, creativity and innovation;
and analytical ability (Zakaria and Hashim, 2020). On the other hands Personal development
plan is a supported and structured process conducted by an individual to be able to reflect upon
his own learning, performance and achievement along with to plan for their own personal,
educational and career development. Below mentioned report covers basic understanding of the
values of short, medium and long term goals along with the evaluation of sources which have
been taken to build the personal development plan.
Task One
What is personal and professional development
From the view point of (Verfasst, 2018), Personal development refers to the set of
activities undertaken to improve potential, talent, employability, consciousness, ability to realise
dreams, ambition and generate wealth. In broader term, it is what an individual does with the aim
of improving the prospect of life and improves oneself. Personal development is ongoing and life
long process through which a person assess the skills and competencies, identify the ambition
and vision in their life and set goals to achieve them and maximise their potential.
Whereas, Professional development is defined as the ability to learn and maintain
professional credentials such as training, certification and an academic degree that a worker
needs to flourish and prosper their career. These are the set of tool, resources, and training
session undertaken by educators to enhance their teaching ability and quality.
Describe the value of short term goals along with 3 personal examples
As per the perspective of (Mack, 2021) Short terms goals are defined as the gaols that a person
wants to achieve in near future and these can be set to achieve in a day, week, or a month. Most
of the people have long terms goals that seems to be difficult to achieve and decide where to start
to reach those goals (Jaradat and et. al., 2020). Therefore, short term goals are the stepping stone
towards the long term goals and pave the path towards success. Short term goals eliminates
procrastination, motivates and allowing to focus on long term goals. While setting short terms
