INTRODUCTION
Surveillance Study is one of the technique part of study where it is essential to collect detail
form of information so that higher chances can be seen for obtaining fair result. Continuous
Surveillance can allow to collect useful data which are essential in any of the specific field. In
context of the report, five different question will be answered which will relate with social
sorting, panoptic model of surveillance and Surveillance capitalism and many more.

of this technique in criminal justice settings?
Social Sorting is explained as the concept which is understood as the breakdown or
dividing of multiple group or even the multiple form of data with the help of data manipulators
and data brokers. It is one of the useful concept in any of the field which can simply allow to
determine the way to attain every single information in detail through which chances of
obtaining the goals increases (Surveillance as Social Sorting: Privacy, Risk and Digital
Discrimination, 2003). But, when it comes to criminal justice setting, social sorting can create
huge issues. It is because more number data will provide higher number of facts but still it will
create number of issues in obtaining the goals. This is because decision making process will
become length, even facts which will be present might don’t have the same level of thinking
which may create additional problem.
What is the panoptic model of surveillance? Does David Lyon suggest it is limited for explaining
practices of surveillance? If so, in what ways? Do you agree/ disagree?
Panoptic Model of Surveillance is explained as the concept which simply helps to
determine about every single information related to prisoners. It is mainly observed by the
authorised person within the department of police, specially police officer. But, it is one of those
state where prisoner is unable to determine whether they are being watched or not. In context of
David Lyon, he suggested that it is limited for explaining practices of surveillance and even I do
agree with this because it is one the concept which can easily allow to collect number of data
which can be useful (Ethics Explainer: The Panopticon, 2017). It is also because, there are other
writer who doesn’t have a detail knowledge regarding surveillance but it can be used in either
way i.e. for attaining positive outcomes and for negative too. Even it is also necessary to

understand that it must be used as the concept which can allow to collect wider range of
knowledge for attaining the desire goals.

Surveillant Assemblage can be explained as the process where different form of data or
information are collected with the resources like social media, online shopping, police report or
through any of the personal information. It is one of the advance concept which can be helpful in
obtaining the current information which can easily allow to accomplish the goals within the
specific time period. In any of the sources, it can be essential to understand that surveillant
Assemblage will allow to accomplish the goals because multiple sources are there for collecting
the information (The surveillant assemblage, 2019). In the same manner, it is said that it can be
one of the effective way for handling the criminal justice setting because information about the
criminals can be collected easily with the help of biometric identifier, data base can be prepared
which can be result oriented. As all of the information can be vied in short time period so
declaring the result will be quite easy task.
‘Simulated justice’ what does this means? How has justice changed in the context of telemetric
policing that O’Malley describes? Provide an example to illustrate your argument.
Simulated Justice is defined as the process in which changes in performing the task has
been introduced. Here, process of declaring the decision is mainly done through the process of
online sources. In this types of concept, court doesn’t require the physical present of the person
who is guilty or not (Simulated Justice: Risk, Money and Telemetric Policing. 2010). It is among
one of those concept where people doesn’t have to suffer a lot because process of declaring the
result is easy and fast too.
While talking about telemetric policies, it can be easily said that governing bodies are
controlling the data in digital form which is currently saving lots of time as well as paper work
too. For example: Whenever any of the person drives the motorbike and his average speed
increases more then the requirement of specific road or area then in that particular situation
automatic fine is generated. The receipt of fine is directly transferred to the one on whose name
the vehicle is registered. In this particular source only online mode is used for effective result.

What is Surveillance capitalism? How does it operate and what concerns arise from this account
of surveillance?
Surveillance Capitalism is one of the modern concept where source of information is
collected with the help of online resources. Here, huge amount of data is required on which
customers mainly conducts the process of comparison so that effective result can be obtained.
This types of surveillance can be conduct at free of cost but it directly or indirectly allows to
increase the overall percentage of sale on which any of the person focuses the most (Explainer:

It is being operated through online resources such as social media marketing, Facebook
ad and multiple number of other resources. It is one of the effective sources which can easily
allow to accomplish the target in best possible manner. There are number of problem as well
which can be easily seen within the concept of capitalism surveillance and that can easily raise
out as it is necessary to understand that it is one of the concept where similar form of data can be
seen which can create issues as well. Even there is no surety of sustaining the data at top
position.
