AND CULTURE
From the analysis, it is assessed that British Gas follows
hierarchical organizational structure. But, EDF follows flat type of
organizational structure. The organizational structure as being
followed by British Gas is effective as it clearly specifies the roles
and responsibilities of each individual. But, the given structure will
be proved as ineffective when an individual has to communicate his
or her grievance to the top level employees. In order to perform the
same, workers have to follow long procedure. However, the
structure of EDF is resolved the communication related problem.
Furthermore, British Gas complies with person culture that gives
importance to the needs and demands of employees. However, EDF
follows power culture where only one person has authority to make
decisions about the firm.

1.2 RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
STRUCTURE AND CULTURE
Combination of organizational structure and culture used by
British Gas causes a significant impact upon its own performance.
For example, with the help of person culture, motivation of
workers can be enhanced which is usually affected when they are
not being considered as the important part of firm. Likewise, by
using hierarchical organizational structure, cited firm can make
the proper allocation of roles and responsibilities which are being
fulfilled by the individuals. Through this way, British Gas can
enhance satisfaction level of its employees. Due to this, sales and
profits of firm will be impacted in a positive way. Overall, it can
be said that for the firm it is very essential that it must make the
selection of organizational structure and culture in an effective
manner.
