Psychology

Introduction
 Psychology is used for study of human behaviour and their
thoughts.
 It developes a relationship amidst the care provider and
patients/service users.
 There are many psychological factors which influence the
behaviour of human being.
 During different lifespan stages of development human
experiences differnt kind pohschological behaviour.

Application of psychological theories
Cognitive appraisal (Richard Lazarus)
 Individual are affected by the environment.
 Environment produces stressors.
 Primary appraisal stage includes finding meaning of situation.
 Secondary appraisal where person is not able to identify what
should be done with the situation.

James-Lange: Theory of Emotion
 Individual triggers many emotions in many situation in life.
 Emotion arises only after the person encounter with the situation.
 Emotion of stress and confusion trigger stressful constitution.
 This in return triggers stress related emotions.

Behaviour disturbances in relation to psychological theories
As per the given case study,
 Karen is undergoing difficult mental conditions.
 She is facing anxiety and pervasive development disorder.
 This is lowering her self esteem and confidence to perform her daily job duties.
As per psychological theories,
 These inability triggered after the primary appraisal encounter with her husband's
problem.
 secondary appraisal encounter she does not know what to do with the critical
situation.

As per the given case study,
 Karen was undergoing mental stress and pressure due to non employable skills of
her husband.
 She is facing these problems from the past 8 months.
 Her medical well being is now getting impacted from the long exposure of stress.
As per James-Lange psychological theories,
 Negative thoughts that lingers in her mind, are due her incapability of saving her
marriage from breakdown.
 exposure has triggered behavioural changes in her self.
 Constant fear of losing her job t\increase stress level.
