9378722 Evidence-based nursing research There were several knowledge gaps in the literature that I reviewed. The project is aimed at helping the military veterans to cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The first gap I identified, I made it the topic in my research, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among Veterans in Military. I realized that many veterans are affected at a rate of 23% of those that were deployed to missions outside the country (Boyd, Lanius & McKinnon, 2018). They are therefore not able to live fulfilling lives after their service. This depression among veterans leads to suicide ideation. The veterans are mostly left disabled and live a poor-quality life. The Health and Counselling Department of the Military hasfewer social workers staff to cater for the needs of all the military veterans. The recruitment of more staff will ensure that the counseling is individually tailored to fit the needs of depressed veterans. The community social workers can be involved and trained to help in alleviating the problem faced by the veterans at their old age. There is a lack of training for social workers to specifically deal with veterans and provide them with counseling that matches their past experiences (DeNisco & Barker, 2015). The veterans suffer from frequent anxiety attacks which leads to suicide ideation. The other gap realized is the increase in the suicides among the veterans. This is mostly amongst those that have become disabled due to their service and unable to obtain the required treatment for their conditions. The gap that exists in the interventions applied to the patients suffering from depression has also lead to this study. The Present- Centered Group Therapy has been in use and the results are not as remarkable as those ofMindfulness-Based Stress Reduction therapy. (Boyd, Lanius & McKinnon, 2018)TheMindfulness-Based Stress Reductiontherapy is more effective and produces good results amongst the veterans than other interventions used.
