The aim of the presentation is to elucidate in the light of the news published in the
‘business insider’ under the title ‘Google's HR boss is stepping down, while tensions between
management and employees continue to heat up’. The news allows us to reflect upon the fact
how crucial the attribute of the HR is to any organizational structure.
On the 10th of February, the HR of Google had announced that her position would be
put on resignation by her in the later part of this year. On asking she expressed the concern
that the decision has been taken by her based on the fact that the tension between the
managerial team and the employees have been on an increase in the recent situations.
However the situation has been joined by several other factors (businessinsider.in, 2020).
As a HR, Naughton had taken lead in recruiting considerable number of employees in
the year of her functioning as the head of the people operation team. However, she had also
faced criticism as she aided the employees in protesting against the way company was
handling the cases of misconduct as perpetrated sexually (businessinsider.in, 2020).
The cases of misconduct dates back to the year of 2019 when the four employees who
have been appointed turned against the organization with the case of sexual harassment.
However, there has been certain discrepancies in terms of the statement released. Google had
confirmed that the organization would retain Naughton with the organization
(businessinsider.in, 2020).
The situation in concern elucidated the contribution of the HR in enhancing the
human labor of the company by recruiting more than 70,000 employees on the beginning of
their career. Her implication of the lives of the employees can be noted in their entrustment
upon the HR, who had guided them in their protest.
