Introduction
Since the start of the industrial age, the Universe has been powered by a different set of
technologies. The need to reduce emissions as well as the rise of renewable, from solar to wind
to biomass, has considerably changed how human being fuels their power generation. Numerous
new methods can be used in creating energy. The new method of creating energy that will be
discussed in this paper is known as Microbial fuel cells- harnessing mainly the power of bacteria.
Today, human beings are witnessing a crisis of global energy because of huge energy demands
as well as limited resources. The purpose of this paper is to describe some of the advantages of
MFC technology.
First of all, it is true that bacteria are all-around human beings. Some are beneficial, some
are harmful, but all of the Bacteria breathe. When these bacteria breathe oxidation often occurs,
and in the process, electrons are produced. By connecting breathing bacteria to an anode and a
cathode, the flow of these produced electrons may be harnessed to produce power. This is what
is called a microbial fuel cell. Microbial fuel cells are used mainly to create electricity from the
waste H2O (Mateo, Cañizares, Rodrigo & Fernández, 2019). They can also be used to power
miniature aquatic robots.
Microbial fuel cells should be pursued because it acts as alternative treatment
technology, which is more cost-effective as well as requires less energy for its operation (Gude,
2016). Additionally, it can help address global environmental concerns as well as energy
insecurity. The main motive for pursuing Microbial fuel cells is the potential for perfecting the
existing expensive waste H2O treatment systems with a new technology that may essentially be
sustainable (Anawar & Strezov, 2019). Therefore, because this technology deals with generation
