4/3.1 State the meaning of the terms ‘equality’ and ‘diversity’
Equality: The equality aspect is about the organizations treating everyone equally and providing equal
opportunities without any form of discrimination based on race, religion, colour, ethnicity or creed.
Diversity: The diversity aspect represents the consideration of differences between people and also
amount of different groups of people, thereby, some positive efforts and undertake approaches to
resolve the differences and bring new people from different backgrounds, culture and nationality to
work together, as an unit and in coordination1.
4/3.4 State the legal requirements relating to equality and diversity

The legal requirements relating to equality and diversity include:
Compliance with the Equal Pay legislation so as to treat both men and women equally and
provide the wages equally based on their performances and contribution, rather than any form
of discrimination based on race, religion, creed or colour.
None of the job applicants would be discriminated, which could ensure providing equal
opportunities of promotion and other job related benefits too
Any kinds of harassment would be prevented and also focus should be on aligning the policies
and principles properly with the help of adequate training sessions along with facilitation of
strong leadership skills too2.
Equal Opportunities Act must be implemented as well as part of the legislative requirements
for management of diversity and equality.

Supporting equality and diversity should not only create more scopes and opportunities for both men
and women, but at the same time, create a diverse working environment, where different kinds of
people belonging from different backgrounds, race, culture, colour or creed would become a part of
the workforce and ensure acqusitions of diverse sets of skills, knowledge and expertise too. This
would be essential for effective decision making along with better workforce efficiency.
4/3.3 Describe ways of behaving that show sensitivity and respect for other people
Everyone within the workplace must treat others with politeness, kindness and also with courtesy
The employees should be encouraged to provide their ideas, views and opinions and also must be
involved as part of the decision making process
The ideas and opinions of the employees must be changed into important tactics so as to improve the
workforce efficiency3.
Sensitivity and respect could also be shown by making sure that their needs are taken care of properly
