Introduction
From the time of the inheritance, human beings are the social creatures. The activities
related to society helps the human being to maintain their mental and physical health in the time
of their aging. According to World Health Organization. (2015), social interaction among the
elderly population is essential for decreasing the chances of occurrence of mental health issues
and depression together with anxiety. The social interaction among the elderly population is
extremely important for the reducing of the increased risk towards arthritis, cardiac diseases and
cancer followed by tendency of alzheimer. The thesis statement of the assignment argues with
the importance of the interaction in the society for the process of health aging among individual.
The scope of the entire assignment is to analyse the factors that induces social activities, healthy
aging and decreasing rate of health challenges. Highlighting the case study of Frederic Arum, the
assignment targets to examine the gap that requires furthermore research study.
Discussion
In the lights of several article, this section of essay argues with the review of literature
regarding the importance of social interaction for the elderly people in their healthy aging
process. According to Han et al., (2015) older adults who are socially isolated are generally at
the greater risk of disability, sickness and even in case of premature death. The connection
among the social engagement and brain death is still debatable. The use it or lose it theory
regarding healthy aging suggests that mental workout that is associated social engagement might
help the elderly population towards the maintenance of memory and mind.
‘Psychosocial factors for influencing healthy aging in adults in Korea’, the research study
by Han et al., (2015) explains the inclusion of physical, psychological, social wellbeing and

spiritual in the later years. The authors of the research study identified the psychological factors
that induces the healthy rate of aging and examined the socio economic characteristics. Factors
include depression, leisure activities, loneliness and self-esteem are some of the factors
influencing health aging among elderly population. The areas of agreement of the research study
highlights the factors connected the healthy aging that has positive correlation with health status,
leisure activities and negative relation with depression and loneliness. The areas of disagreement
within the research study is that the authors highlighted depression as one and only factor
effecting healthy aging among elderly population. The main concept of the article can be
illustrated and summarized as wellbeing and mortality of elderly population are induced by the
essence of their personal self-esteem and self-achievement in a positive manner. The research
study highlighted he process of health aging as the life-long process for optimization of
opportunities in relation to improvements and preservation of physical and mental wellness.
Hodge et al., (2013) in their research study highlighted the growing rate of the aged
population suffering from mental depression and various categories of challenges or diseases.
The study aims to find out the predictors of the effectiveness of the process of aging. The
strength of this research study is that the authors of this research included connectedness,
anthropometric and behavioural data that are related to both the gender for the interpretation of
the study. In two half, the entire study was done in 1990-1994 and at 2003-2004. Health
conditions, physical disability and psychological stress were some of the major factors that were
used in the research data for illustrating the successful aging process. Successful aging has been
described as the process over 7o years with less or nil diabetes, cancer and low risk of the
psychological stress. The major key concepts and the themes within the findings of the study of
research illustrates that health weight and lifestyle maintenance together with social connection
