INTRODUCTION
Nursing refers to an important medical profession in which an individual having position
of nurse plays various roles in an accurate manner. They have to be care provider, researcher,
educator, counsellor and many more as per activities conducted by them for welfare of patient. A
registered nurse is a graduate from nursing program met requirements outlined by country or
similar licensing body to obtain the license for the same (Olson-Sitki, Wendler and Forbes,
2012). The NMBA is an abbreviated form of nursing and Midwife Board of Australia that
provide guidelines, address complaints and conduct disciplinary hearings. This assignment will
discuss about strategies to prevent future health issues and legal considerations in caring for
infants, children along with young people. It also includes description about role of registered
nurse and standards for practice.
TASK
Strategies to prevent or minimise future health issues
There are various kinds of health issues which are observed in society that are required to
be solved properly. It is important take several step to reduce these critical problems and make
citizens well being to spend their lives in comfortable manner. It is necessary to make more
effective as well as efficient strategies which provide support to prevent or minimise future
health issues.
Health promotion includes several strategies like posters or campaigns which provides
positive health messages to people which make people aware about various crucial diseases. It
involves criteria of providing information about precautions that should be taken by people to
stay diseases free. Quality and safety measures includes certain policies like methods to reduce
negative outcomes of treatment which should be considered strictly by nurses while providing
treatment to patient. Another policy is to conduct risk management and make emergency support
team to take actions for decreasing sudden criticality during any complicated surgical procedure
or other activity. (Jirik and Sanders, 2014).
Cultural, legal and ethical considerations in caring for infants, children and youngsters
There are different kinds of cultural, ethical and legal regulations which are required to be
adopted while caring for infants, children and young people. It is necessary for nurse to strictly
follow the legal rules and try to also consider ethical norms also. In case of infants and children

several ethical factors are essential to be considered like maternal-fetal conflict, abortion,
intrauterine fetal surgery, reproductive assistance and embryonic stem cell research.
As per legal rules, it is necessary to render desired information about complications of
treatment procedure and take permission form them to apply the same forrole or technology in
telehealth treating particular patient. It is mandatory for nurse to utilise beneficial and risks free
diagnosis for infants, children or young people. Some of cultural practices are beneficial for
people which should be followed by a registered nurse to make them well being. Cultural
consideration includes the issues of misconception between specialist and patient due to which
people are not capable to understand criteria of treatment because of their own value or beliefs.
Role of the Registered Nurse (RN)
The registered nurse is graduate trained person and has been license to carried out nursing
practices. Thus, they have role to observe and analyse specific health issue or requirements of
patient so that they can put an appropriate efforts to make people well being (Buppert, 2014). It
is necessary to utilise more effective techniques or methods for treating critical patients and solve
their problem properly. The role of a nurse is to administer nursing care to ill, injured,
convalescent or disabled people. They have duty to advise citizens for health maintenance,
disease prevention or render case management. Some of other role of nurses are; Health
promotion; Illness prevention; Midwifery, antenatal and postnatal care; Treatment and care of
sick people; Rehabilitation and palliation; Community development; Population and public
health; Education, quality improvement and research and Policy development and advocacy
NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice
The NMBA is an abbreviated form of Nursing and Midwife Board of Australia which
provide guidelines to health care practitioners and regulates practice of nursing and midwife of
Australia. They have an important function of providing legal indications or guidelines to fulfil
key roles by medical professionals to protect people from several critical. Some of standards for
nursing practices are; Thinks critically and analyses nursing practice; Engages in therapeutic and
professional relationships; Maintains the capability for practice; Comprehensively conducts
assessments; Develops a plan for nursing practice; Provides safe, appropriate and responsive;
quality nursing practice and evaluates outcomes to inform nursing practice.

Standard that reflects RN role in Consent
The term consent can be described as to take permission from an individual before
applying any treatment procedure along with conveying actual complications to them. The
various standards of practices are made by NMBA which is mandatory to be followed nurses or
midwives while dealing with different patients having differentiated health issues. It includes
own of guideline that reflects registered nurse in consent.

According to the above mentioned RN standard, a nurse have to use several effective
strategies by making best decision and render safe, quality nursing practice within person centred
along with evidence-based frame works. Several steps should be taken to solve problem of

it is essential to follow overall legislations, ethical frameworks, policies, guidelines and
standards to make an accurate decision. Last but not the least, maintaining documents timely,
planning, decision making, evaluations and contributes to quality improvement.
Standard that reflects RN role in Mandatory reporting
The criteria of mandatory reporting includes to provide information about case of patient
to senior authorities of hospital as well as family members of patients. It involves to convey
report on regular basis to superiors in health care organisation and render update about condition
of person to their family. There are various kinds of standards which are made by NMBA and
implement them in medical field which are required to be followed by nurses and midwives.
Thus, it includes standard that reflects RN role in mandatory reporting.
Standard- Engages in therapeutic and professional relationships
As per above nursing standards, a registered nurse have follow several steps which are;
First or foremost, it is essential to establish and sustain relations in such manner that
differentiates boundaries between personal and professional relationships (Tan, Lopez and
Cleary, 2015). Furthermore, need to respect person’s autonomy, dignity, culture, values, beliefs
