EHR TRANSFORMATION OF HEALTHCARE
INTRODUCTION
Electronic Health Record (EHR) maintains consolidated records of patients
enabling healthcare professionals to provide enhanced health outcomes
(Spadotto, Hawkins & Monrose, 2009). EHR has capabilities to diagnose
diseases, reduce medical errors, enhancing patient outcomes. Overall EHR
provides tremendous clinical benefits. Applying EHR in Australia across
private and public health facilities provides a number of benefits. Most
importantly the new system applied has transformed healthcare facilities
across the country, providing high patient outcome. The transformation is
not limited to healthcare professionals and patient alone, but it has
revolutionized way in which healthcare facilities operate. A seeming-less
flow of information is taking place currently which was earlier not possible
with paper work.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Several literatures have been evaluated for analysing the impact of EHR on
healthcare.
Janamian, Jackson, Glasson and Nicholson (2014) undertakes a systematic
review of the various challenges faced in EHR implementation. The article
follows a patient-centric approach for application of EHR in medical
home. While applying EHR has multiple benefits there are certain
challenges as well such as time consumption in updating paper based
medical records. This article will help attain findings of this research.
Jensen, Jensen and Brunak (2012) provides an application based framework
for EHR. This article details ways in which EHR can be applied for better
outcomes on medical research. This in turn entails providing better
clinical care for patients. This article will help attain findings of this
research.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Wang, Kung, Wang and Cegielski (2018) evaluates advanced application
of data analytics to EHR for its effectiveness. The several application of
data analytics and their benefits for rendering patient-centric outcome
is assessed. EHR application has expanded to include data analytics
based models of transformation across health care.. Applying data
analytics has enabled better diagnosis of patient’s diseases and
avoiding medical or medicine related errors. This study will contribute
to the findings of this research.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Lluch (2011) analyses the organizational barriers in implementing health
information technologies. The previous journals mainly deals with
discussing the advantages, while this journal analyses the barriers to
implementing EHR within the Australian healthcare framework.
Healthcare professionals are not yet ready to adopt newer
technologies while rendering patient care.
Morrison et al. (2011) analyses the prominent and contrasting approaches
of implementing EHR. The study undertakes such evaluation from
Australia, USA and England. While healthcare professionals are
opposed to the idea of EHR implementation, there are organizational
challenges which are prominent to applying EHR as well. These
barriers need to be overcome for the benefits of EHR to arise.

CONTRIBUTION TO THEORY
This research provides evidence of the several benefits arising from
application of EHR in the domain of healthcare.
The research will demonstrate the transformation in healthcare
practices brought about.
The study will depict the transformation to healthcare professionals
brought about with implementation of EHR as well.
