Teaching Plan
2
Introduction
The teaching plan is a valuable resource in the nursing profession, as
it allows the nurses to allow patients to carry out self-care individually. In every healthcare
environment, it is important to provide the patient with information ((Punturieri, 2017)).
Patient care seeks to help patients and their families reach better health benefits. The nurses
must create a training program to provide care to the patient that will include nursing
processes such as (evaluation, preparation, execution, and evaluation). Through the teaching
program planning process, both the instructors and the clients add to the planning cycle
leading to a positive result
Learning Needs
This article is based upon a case study of Mrs. Jackson she is 75 years
of age who has one daughter but she lives far from her and only visits her once a week, Mrs.
Jackson is suffering from arthritis, COPD and hearing problem as well, Mrs. Jackson recently
had a fall and as per her recent visit to the doctor suggested she would require a walker to cop
up with her today activities but she denied to with his suggestion because she believes that
it’s a sign of weakness and she does not need anyone to help her accomplishing her day to
day activities (Brandt, 2012).
How to explain her the issue: The discussion describes that if Mrs. Jackson does not
wish to take any assistance to finish her day to day tasks she might have to be in the
wheelchair for the rest of her life, at that time the situation can even go worse as it is
now and she’d then require a person to her help her every time.

Calm down an anxious patient: Mrs. Jackson suffers from COPD, arthritis, and also
she is hard on hearing and for that she uses hearing aids, she in on oxygen and inhaler
for the same and because of her recent fall she might need to face a lot of difficulties
afterward.
Explain to her the meaning of COPD: it has to be the initial duty of the nurse to
explain Mrs. Jackson that how serious is her condition and what exactly is COPD?
Once she understands there has to be a positive environment so that she can
understand and agree to the use of a walker. She has to understand that even a single
fall in the future will lead to a huge problem so it is the best option for her to use a
walker and continue her life happily (Salameh, Khayat & Waked, 2012).
