Every organization, large, medium or small needs to
manage their programs, portfolios and projects by using
manually operated or electronic applications. These
application systems can store huge amount of
organizational data and manage it. Previously, the small
organizations use to go for the manual organizational
system and the large organizations went for electronic
ones. This was because the costs of the electronic
applications were pretty high back then. But in recent
times, due to the advancement of computer technology
throughout the globe, this cost has reduced significantly.
Thus, even the smaller industries and companies can
afford it and have started using it. This is because,
although the work of the manual application systems and
the electronic ones are the same, but there are some
significant differences between them. They are discussed
below.
The cost of the systems is a factor that creates a lot
of difference between the two. Although in recent times
the cost of the electronic systems have gone down
significantly due to computer and technological
advancements, still, a manual application system is much
cheaper in comparison. The computerized application
systems are affordable, profitable and in demand; the
cheapness of the manually controlled software is still a
factor. The maintenance of the computer systems is also
high.
