Verse- “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their
authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a
leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become
your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life
as a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:25-28 (NLT)
The leadership in any field encompasses the ability of an organization or an individual to
guide other people, organization and the teams. There are specialists who are debating on
different perspectives having contrasted the Eastern and the Western leadership approaches. The
leadership studies have involved the situational interaction, the traits, the power, behaviour,
charisma, values and the intelligence among other people. A good leader always takes the lead
having the personality, the clear vision, the courage with strong ambition to succeed. A perfect
leader helps people to encourage the team towards performing better with all of their time and
drive the success of the organization. There are some of the most important traits of leadership
such as ethics, the appropriate skills, experience, the adaptive and the transformational styles, a
clear direction, powerful communication skill, respect for regulations.
The Bible is a powerful example of a scripture that holds the core theories of leadership.
It can be said that leadership is nothing new and since the creation of the world, the leaders have
paved the way to an ideal leadership. The idea of ‘servant leadership’ has been generated being
inspired through the verses of Jesus in Matthew 20:25-28 (NLT). Jesus preaches it when a person
wants to be a leader among common the common people should be the servant.
