Section One: Title, objective, responsibilities
Title or working title of the research project (in the form of a question, objective or
hypothesis)
The benefits and the risks of offshoring and outsourcing. A study on Nestle.
Aim:
To study the benefits and the risks of offshoring and outsourcing the functions. A study on
Nestle.

investigation, but the main focus is to identify ways through which problems arise in
synchronisation of operations can be identified. With the help of this investigation, issue arise
in completing targets and meeting deadlines and delivering goods to consumers within
specified time.
Research objectives (e.g what is the question you want to answer? What do you want to
learn how to do? What do you want to find out?):

To understand the advantages and risks associated with offshoring and outsourcing of
functions for an organisation.

Research questions
Do you have knowledge about offshoring and outsourcing ?
What are the advantages and risks associated with offshoring and outsourcing of
functions for an organisation ?
What are the ways to deal with issue related to synchronisation in operations of
company while availing services through outsourcing and offshoring ?
Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you are studying, personal
interest, future plans, knowledge/skills you want to improve, why the topic is
important):
the reason behind choosing this topic is, in current market there is requirement of resources
from external sources as well in order to maintain quality of product and services. There is
requirement of having complete and specific knowledge about sources through which
outsourcing, and offshoring is possible (Tate and Bals, 2017).
Outsourcing and offshoring of functions is important for theorist and researcher because this
is the topic which is new for researcher as many organisations are facing problem in this
context. When organisation is availing services from external sources, then management of
association face problem in regard to completing task within deadline. With offshoring and
outsourcing, business is able to maintain their quality and provide satisfactory services to
consumers. For industry, there is ease in conducting operations and make completion of tasks
with efficiency. When organisation is availing services from external sources or shifting
business to other location, then there will increment in employment rate and social growth and
development is also possible (Howard, 2018). For researcher this topic is related to their
educational background and this is new topic, so scope of conducting investigation is more.
This will boost career of researcher when they perform operate functions in this sector, so it is
easy to deal with challenges arise and associated with synchronisation of activities. This topic
enhance knowledge of individual through which they can work at international level as well
which increases scope of conducting further studies too.
Section Three: Literature sources searched
Use of key literature sources to support your research question, objective or hypothesis:
Knowledge about offshoring and outsourcing
Outsourcing refers to the process through which business operations are performed with the
help of some other party who is not associated with organisation. This facility is generally
adopted by manufacturing unit through which they can make material ready from expertise

which assist in gaining good relations with consumers. Quality is the main prospect due to
which facility of outsourcing is availed. According to Jeffrey Glen, 2019 there are three
reasons i.e. cost, specialisation and flexibility due to which outsourcing of functions in
performed. This assist company to understand about ways through which cost and quality of
products and services are maintained (Graham and et. al., 2017).
Offshoring refers to the re- location of business enterprise at other location because of
considering cost. This is the process under which consumers remains same at local
destination, but manufacturing and production of product and services are at new place.
Hence this assist in performing activities in appropriate and relevant manner. It is important
for managers to understand cost and tax policies about new location through which they can
easily access at new location.
Advantages and risks associated with offshoring and outsourcing of functions for
organisation
As per view of GINO LISONDRA, 2019 advantages of offshoring are- short as well as long
term benefits can be achieved. There is proper marketing and finance function which assist in
business growth and development. Relocation assist in increasing consumer base. While
challenges arise in offshoring are frequent change in legal and political policies of new
location which gives negative impact on organisational performance. Sometimes, due to
incomplete information about external market managers of enterprise are not able to perform
business activities in appropriate manner (Kaur, Singh and Majumdar, 2019).
Advantages of outsourcing are- there is division of risk among another person. Inviolability of
product and services are frequent through which consumers are satisfied. There is availability
of expertise knowledge which easy for maintaining quality of services offered. While
challenges associated with outsourcing for organisation are- there is less confidentiality in
working style of organisation because of interference of other parties. Cost of product and
services for consumers might be high because of different hidden costs.
Ways to deal with issue related to synchronisation in operations of company while availing
services through outsourcing and offshoring
there is main issue of cooperation among different activities of association when they are
thinking to avail services under offshoring and outsourcing of function . In order to deal with
it, managers make proper contractual work with the help of which external party will be

liable. In case of festive season, when there is more demand for chocolates, then there is pre-
ordering of products with the help which it will be ready within specified quantity. There are
possibilities that in case of offshoring, there is difference in legal policies and regulations, so
in this case proper knowledge about it have to be acquired. If there is inter- relation among
individuals (Dutta, Gwebu and Wang, 2017). Then it is important that external party have to
complete task within specified limit.
There are different factors which has to be considered by managers while they are outsourcing
and offshoring of resources in order to maintain cost and time for it. According to Ben Rossi,
2019 main focus of management of association is on cost efficiency and reputation of
association. There must be analysis of innovation through which it is easy to evaluate ways
which assist in making product and services different from competitors. There must be proper
communication about different cost and facilities with external party, so possibilities of
dispute arises.
Research gap:
there are some issues which is faced by management of company when they are operating in
other country or availing services from external parties. The major issues which will covered
in this investigation is to make synchronisation in operations and provide chocolates to
consumers within specified time. So in this investigation, there will discussion about this
research gap and achieve above stated aim and objectives.
Section Four: Activities and timescales
Activities to be carried out during the research project (e.g research,
development and analysis of ideas, writing, data collection, numerical
analysis, tutor meetings, production of final outcome, evaluation,
writing the report):
Research has to be done with considering different activities in
synchronise manner. Research activities are discussed as under-

Section Five: Research approach and methodologies
What type of research approach and methodologies are you likely to use and why? What
your areas of research will cover:
In section of research methodology, there is discussion about some tools and techniques
which are used in order to make investigation relevant and authentic (Johansson and Olhager,

2018). Some techniques which will use in this study are as under-
there are two types of research approach i.e. inductive and deductive, best and relevant for
this study is inductive because it focus on minor aspects related with offshoring and
outsourcing of functions. Positivism philosophy will be chosen for this investigation because
this mainly focus on aspects which are important (Lee, 2017).
Qualitative research method will be used in this investigation because this represents
information with the help of charts and pictures and it provides justification behind specific
view (Almutairi and Riddle, 2018).
Primary and secondary information sources are used through which complete and relevant
information is collected. Primary information is collected through questionnaire in which
researcher contact with respondents to know their views about outsourcing and offshoring of
functions. While secondary information is gathered through online internet sources. These
sources are relevant and authentic.
Simple random probable sampling is used in this investigation with the help of which
samples are collected (Albertoni and et. al., 2017). It is important for researcher to select
candidates for collecting information, so in this case they are selected randomly through
which possibilities of partiality is negligible. 30 workers working at Nestle are selected as
respondents.
