This article discusses the rationale for Cheng’s (2016) and Ledin and Machin’s (2017) studies of neoliberalism-in-action and how their analytical methodologies differ. It explores the impact of formal education on neoliberal subjectivities and the changing value structure in the context of neoliberalism. The article also examines the transformation of social space, particularly the domestic kitchen, in the neoliberal logic of transformation. The analytical methodologies used include ethnographic research and semiotic analysis. The article concludes by discussing the suitability of ethnographic methodology for the intended topic of the Paper 3 assignment.
