INTRODUCTION
The theme of “A mother’s story” is related to the story of women about violence being faced
by them. There is discussion related to the courageous actions being taken by the women in order
to live a free life and save her children. It is not a story of one women but it is the issue faced by
society (Hawley, Clifford and Konkes, 2018). There is discussion related to the violence being
faced by her in front of her son. The ex-partner of Rosie tried to murder her son. The situations
were so complicated and she has fought at each and every situation in order to get protection
against violence.
MAIN BODY
What do these themes/topics in the context of Rosie Batty’s story tell us about family violence
being a social issue and thus its prevention a social responsibility?
Family violence can be understood as any kind of abuse, mistreat, neglect of a child, or
having relations with outsiders. All the actions that are legally wrong are being considered under
family violence. There is need of considering that there is abusive behaviour of one partner on
the other due to dominant position. The same is being faced by Rosie by her ex-partner. She was
being abused and she faced the terrible and hideous violence from him. It is not only physical
violence but also on the mental health (Jahirul Islam and Mazerolle, 2022). It is necessary to
understand the pain and take necessary actions. She also faced issues in getting the basic
facilities. She was being tortured and deprived of all the facilities. It is necessary to understand
the social issue and provide protection to the people. There are various women that are facing
this serious issue and not able to get any protection. It is necessary for the people reading the
book and in real life to understand that the violence is a major issue that is being faced by
women.
There is need of understanding the issue and providing protection to people against the
same. It is right time to speak and start complaining against the issue. Being a victim is not any
body’s choice. But it is necessary to take necessary actions and inform the professionals that
could help to get the victim out of the situation. It is responsibility of the nation and citizens to be
aware about social violence. There is need of being aware and also helping other in the case of
requirement (Wendt and et.al., 2020). It is seen that there are laws being formulated by
Government but there is need of awareness. By making the people aware the victims can be
