CHAPTER 1 – INTRODUCTION1.1 Background of studyIn modern Era people are now more engaged in their professional life which unable toenjoy their personal life. A work life balance refer to ability of employees in maintaining ahealthy balance betwixt their work roles and their family life. There are some causes whichcontribute greatly to the difficulty in achieving a work life balance. There are many workerswho's responsibilities are increases, from elderly care, children and family commitment. This allresponsibility comes at the time when their work responsibility also increasing which result inconflict between work commitment and personal and it leads to enhance the stress level ofindividual. Employee behaviour and attitude toward their life and organization are affected bywork life balance. For an organization work life balance is very important because especiallywhen they need highly technical professional because their high commitment and loyalty isneeded for the success of the firm. If employees work life is balanced then they will be moreloyal toward their organization which is very important for firm in order to gain competitiveadvantage. Further work life balance is an organization change which is designed for reducingwork family conflict. There work life balance practices enable workers to be effective in boththeir personal and professional life. If there is more control of employee on their live then theycan easily manage their family and work. It can be stated that if there is more control on worklife the it is beneficial for employer and employee. Further the balance between personal andprofessional life result in quality of personal relationship and organizational outcome.Commerzbank UK. want to retain its highly skilled workers then it need to provide someflexibility to them, so that they not feel any type of burden of work and responsibility. It can bestated that job stress and organizational loyalty are negatively related with each other. Moreover, when stresslevel decreased of employees they then are more encouraged and motivated toward their work.There is an important relation between work life policies and career opportunities withorganizational loyalty. dissertation discusses the relationship between work life balance and loyalty of employeestowards company. Furthermore, organization should should understand that employees are not robot andthey need some space from their professional life. For making position in cut throat market theyignored the employees welfare and importance and put pressure of work on them, which lead toimpact reduce the loyalty of employee toward the organization. Commerzbank UK need tounderstand the importance of employees and make policy for their welfare which assist inretaining them for longer period of time. Loyalty of employee is very important for organizationto sustain in competitive market. In the current dissertation, Commerzbank has been selected,which is a global banking and financial services company. It provides high quality services to itscustomer and focus on making good position in market. Thus, it has been assessed that employerof Commerzbank need to take some action for reducing the work load from employees. Thissupport in increasing the loyalty of employees toward the organization. Now a days, to makeposition in competitive market create a barrier for employees in managing their personal andwork life. Employee put under pressure to work hard for achieving success and this increasestress of employee and make them frustrate from their job. There is a significant relationshipbetween work life balance and loyalty of employee toward the organization. If employees aresatisfied from their job they will work hard for them for achieving success. On the other hand ifemployee feel work as burden on them then they will get demotivated from their work. This leadto impact organization performance and company may suffer from lower productivity. Here, the dissertation is prepared in order to acquire better understanding of work life balanceand thus it increases employee loyalty toward the organization. It also identifies that businessaim is to provide flexibility to employees so that they can easily balance their work life. Hencecreating a link between work life balance and employees loyalty toward the organization is resultin success of organization. Employee are very important part of organization they performancehelp support organization in achieving success. So company need to understand their importanceand provide them some flexibility for their own benefit. 1.2 Rationale of the studyWork life balance is a concept which covers proper prioritizing between work andlifestyle. In present, fast paced business world, it is become difficult to achieve work life balancefor employees. Organization want more from its and they are putting additional pressure forachieving greater result. Burden of work unable employee to give time for personal life whichimpact the loyalty of employee toward the organization. Employee performance get downbecause they get demotivate from their work and unable to perform well for organization.Company need to understand the importance of work life balance and provide them someflexibility so that employee feel satisfied from their organization. If employees become lesssusceptible to burnouts then negative effect of burnout impact every area of life which includepersonal and social life. Work life balance is important as it allows to separate work and home.There are lots of negative impact on employee performance it if face load of work. Due toworkload employee come in stress and it unable to perform high quality work and sometime failto achieve task because they are not committed toward the organization which impactorganizational goal. Furthermore, present research study focus upon detail description of allrelated problem which company as well as employees face if work life is not balanced. Companyalso required to understand employee are important assets if they were not provided flexibilityin their working then they will get demotivated from work and not perform as per therequirement of company. Work life balance is not only important for employee but it isimportant for the organization too because employee cannot perform work under stress and itneed to understand organization.In the current dissertation, scholar identified that it measure the relationship betweenwork life balance and loyalty of employee toward the organization. Main reason of carrying outthis study is to understand the flexibility in working for employees, help in maintaining theirwork life balance which result in job satisfaction and organization commitment. It employees getcommitted toward the organization then they will work hard for them which lead to success.Thus, present study is carried out to focus upon all aspects which support employee in managingtheir work life and to make them loyal toward the organization. Therefore, rationale behindconducting present study is to focus upon providing flexible working environment to employeeto assess the relationship between work life balance and loyalty of employees towards company.
1.3 Significance of studyWork life balance is support employee in accomplishing the task more effectively withmore effort. On the other hand it also assist in enjoying personal life with family etc. Work lifebalance help in managing the work as well as professional life which is beneficial for bothcompany as well as for employees. However, company need to make some policy for employeewelfare because if workers get benefit from organization then they will work hard foraccomplishing goals. For this purpose, current study is being conducted for analysing strategiesto manage work life balance and loyalty of employees of Commerzbank UK. It supportorganization as well as employee in balancing work as well as personal life. Apart from this,current study also shed light on current problem concern to work load which impact employeepersonal life. 1.3 Research aimThe aim of the present dissertation is to identify the relationship between work lifebalance and employee loyalty toward the organization.
