Introduction:
Aboriginal education teaching and learning specifically focus on the knowledge, method,
and models of the Aboriginal contents (Donovan 2015). The growing recognition and use of
indigenous education methods can be a response to the loss of indigenous knowledge because of
colonization’s, globalization and modernity. Hence, through Aboriginal education, the western
education system acknowledges the tradition and practice of the land on which the students live
and educate. The common method of providing indigenous knowledge includes observation,
imitation, collaboration, storytelling, and cooperation. This paper will reflect on the detailed
insight of Aboriginal education and personal experience in the following paragraphs.
Discussion:
Indigenous people have world views and have a belief that “we all are connected”. The
indigenous or Aboriginal education is crucial for the students to gain the understanding of the
cultural, knowledge and concept of Aboriginal, as it will help to design culturally sensitive
services and empower the Aboriginal individual to participate fully in their community. Absolon
(2010), has provided an in-depth analysis of Aboriginal education. The main theme of the article
is the implementation of Indigenous wholistic theory in teaching practice. The theory
encompasses spiritual, emotional, mental elements of being. I feel adaptation of the theory will
be a useful practice in teaching since it will provide students the feeling of being close to their
land. On the other hand, Andersen, Edwards, and Wolfe (2017) highlighted that narrative and
storytelling is one of the unique insight of the Aboriginal education, which is used as a major
theme of the paper. The researchers suggested that the large collection of stories provide the
students with the idea of the history of Aboriginal and uniqueness of traditions resulted in
increased knowledge of cultural understanding, imagination, and improved social skills. Another
