INTRODUCTION
Abortion is a term which means ending of pregnancy by removing an embryo or fetus
before it get survives outside the uterus. Sometime, it incurred spontaneously which is also
known as miscarriage. On the other hand, when a deliberate step have been taken for ending the
pregnancy then this will considered as induced abortion (Barot, 2012). Therefore, this
assignment is going to revolve around the thesis statement of pro-abortion with the help of
various sources. However, necessary facts or figures associated with the entire procedure of
abortion is outlined in the project.
MAIN BODY
Abortion is a condition associated with women’s pregnancy in which her pregnancy is
going to be end. Basically, this word is used just for induced abortion. Similarly, process which
is going to take place after fetus get succeeded in surviving outside the womb is considered as
“late termination of pregnancy” or sometime as “late term abortion”. However, if abortion is
permitted by law then this will considered as world one of the safest method in medicine. In
modern ways, medication or surgery is known for abortions. On the other hand, unsafe abortions
are resultant into almost 47, 000 deaths due to which around 5 million women’s are taking
admissions in hospital every year. Therefore, World Health organization suggested to offering a
safe and legitimate abortions to all the needy women’s. In fact, almost 56 million of abortions are
taking place in every year across the world from which almost 45% are completed unsafely. In
past years, this procedure takes place by the use of herbal medicines, sharp tools, and forceful
massage or via various other traditional techniques. But now methods have totally changed due
to the emergence of modern technology as well as broader science make things more easy and
safe for women’s (Kirkman and et. al., 2011).
Pro-abortion is a term which means that a lady have a right to decide whether she wanted
to end the pregnancy or not. Therefore, this word signifies that women’s must know that what is
right for her and what is wrong. Hence, she can make decision as per her health and by
considering necessary facts or figures before going for abortion option.
Debate over Abortion- Generally, laws related with abortions are distinct across the
nation as in few areas abortion is seen as legal in specific situations such as; rape, problems with
fetus, poverty, risk to the health of woman’s or incest. In fact, numbers of people get entered into

debate over the moral, ethical and legal issue of abortion. Mainly, those who opposed abortion
maintain that an embryo or fetus is human being by having a right to life due to which abortion is
equals to murder. On contrary to this, people who are in favour of legality of abortion believes
that every women and female have an authority or fundamental right to make decisions about her
own body.
Complex solution to the problem- Abortion is not secure as the process itself is only
successful when the life of unborn child’s gets ended. In fact, it’s not only the baby whose life is
in danger but its mother also who is facing this problem. Thus, its legally restricted in large
number of country at the end of nineteenth century and most significant sources of these laws
were imperial nations such as; Europe, Britain, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy who have
imposes their own laws forbidding abortion on their colonies (Cabrera, 2012). In past time
period, restrictions on abortion are done because of three main reasons such as;
 Ending of pregnancy is considered as very much dangerous and abortionists were killed
large number of women’s Therefore, laws have enacted by having public intention in
protecting females who nevertheless sought abortions and risked their lives while doing
so.
 Abortion is seen as a sin or a kind of transgression of morality and legal laws were
having intention to punish as well as act as deterrent.
 This can also restricted for protecting fetal life in few cases.
Hence, legal laws against abortion somehow get diminished after the development of
science and technology, methods of ending a pregnancy is becoming too much safe or secure.
Abortion Does Not violate Human Rights- According to Brian McKinley abortion
destroys life of human life but still it’s not murder because embryo or fetus is not just a separate
human being because it’s not able to survive in outside of women’s body. In fact, only when a
baby can survive independently apart from its mother’s body then it can be framed as full human
rights. For example; supporters of abortion claim that zygote-embryo-fetus is not consider as an
individual because it’s a DNA is of human which just left for further grow in order to become
full human personality. On the other hand, anti-abortion activists uses this fact for supporting this
cause by saying that; acorn is an oak tree at initial stage of growth just like that zygote is also
consider as initial phase of human growth (Vogel, 2012).

It’s an on-going controversy which is surrounded by moral, legal and religious status of
induced abortion. In fact, while medieval time period Western Europeans were undoubtedly
effectual with birth control accomplishments. However, Europe lost their one third of population
because of plague and at the same time feudal nobles as well as church requisite labourers for
working at land. Pregnancies have distinct significance which is based on women’s age, locale
where she lives, her socioeconomic status, cultural background and time period. For example;
young female have an option of deciding that she is not yet prepared for having a child whereas
an older women who have completed her school and having a very secure job with high income
might decide to have child. On the other hand, western women’s are more concentrated towards
their careers before making a plan for raising a family whereas females of eastern cultures are
more focused towards their family planning. In 1960s, feminist of western waves opened doors
for abortion. Furthermore, In America after the case of Roe v. Wade 1973 abortion become
ethical perspectives because in this case Jane Roe declared to have been raped by a gang and get
pregnant. Thus, state of Texas accepted abortions only if the life of specific female get
threatened because of pregnancy (Perspectives on Abortion, 2012).
Consequently, it has been understood that abortion is seen as legal in England, Wales and
Scotland under few specific situations as per Abortion Act 1967. In fact, this law is considered as
one of the most liberal abortion Act across the Europe at the time of enactment. On the other
hand, abortion is restricted in Northern Ireland under few circumstances. Although, in great
Britain abortion is specifically permitted because of socio-economic reasons while 24 weeks of
pregnancy and beyond that medical reasons needs to be there for ending the pregnancy.
Moreover, Section 1 (1) of abortion Act 1967 in England, Wales and Scotland states that an
individual doesn’t found guilty for offence under law related to abortion whenever any
pregnancy is ending through a registered medical practitioner and two of the registered medical
specialist is having a similar viewpoint (Abortion Law and Policy Around the World, 2017).
On contrary to this, Maya Oppenheim 2018 who is women’s correspondent states that
Doctor of Britain thought that outdates laws related with abortion influence their ability to
providing best a suitable care for women. It means, as per the investigation from British
Pregnancy Advisory Service which is engaged in providing charity suggestion about termination
of pregnancy discovered that rules of signing at least two doctors for approval of abortion forms
gave rise to delays. Moreover, abortion is seen as criminal offence in England, Wales and

1861 Offences against the Person Act which is similar of common law in Scotland.
In current time frame, anti-abortion campaigners and MPs have called various medical
professional for facing the prosecution because of not offering substandard care and due to
incorrectly carrying of legitimate paperwork requisite by 1967 Act. Thus, it has been understood
that abortion is supported by lots of people and specialist of medical because sometime it became
a major reason behind a death of women’s Along with this, increase in various harassment at
societal place as well as rape destroys the life of innocent females due to which abortion is
becoming somehow legal in these cases. It means, conditions are applying for aboding the child
which must be approved by doctor by analysing entire situations (Megan Hill, 2018). For
example; if there is a threat on women’s life then doctor can also suggest ending the pregnancy
in order to safeguard the life of mother. All these are the few major reason due to which it is
becoming legal in nature as per legitimate bodies and they have enacted suitable laws for
protecting females.

From the above graphical representation, it has been summarized that Former Nurse of
Tory Nadine Dorries states that Britain will definitely become the “abortion capital for entire
world” in coming decade as per prolife campaigners. It means, that they believe that their
termination rate is very much higher as compared to other western European nation. In fact, if
recent trends are continuing then for sure Britain will overtake the U.S and Australia in place
where highest proportion of pregnancies get terminated. Furthermore, Nadine Dorries MP is
leading calls for cutting limit of upper time for so called social ending of pregnancy started from
24 weeks to 20. Additionally, Mrs Dorries makes a plan for amending on Human Fertilization
and Embryology Bill in Commons at this time period. Hence, in England and Wales abortions
rate of last year is almost 193, 700 which is rate of nearly 18.3% and stands at around 19.4 per
1000 women’s. Consequently, it has been understood that UK is increasingly and rapidly
becoming one of the highest abortion capital over the world (DANIEL MARTIN, 2008).
Hence, it has been understood that it is essential to meet certain criterion for further
procedure of abortion. Thus, for becoming eligible to terminate the pregnancy one of the
following criterions needs to be met:-
 Pregnancy might not exceed than 24 weeks.
 If pregnancy of women is in major risk and influence her life.
 If there is a presence of substantial risk on child while born and might suffer mental or
physical abnormalities.
 Sometime abortion is indispensable for protecting physical or mental damage of pregnant
woman.
Additionally, legal bodies haven’t state that a doctor needs to consider environment of
women’s while deciding whether he/she have to legally abort but he/she have to select to do so.
For instance; economic or social situation of woman’s influence on her well-being if she is going
to continue with her pregnancy.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it has been summarized that abortion is becoming a solution for
most of the people due to which it become legal in nature from illegal. In fact, number of
situation are identified which shows that women’s needs to do terminate their pregnancy because
of several reason such as; rape, health issue, major health problem and many more. Along with
this, it has been analysed that females are suffering a lot because of abortion due to which

legitimate body have enacted various provisions, norms, rules and regulations for regulating the
unusual situation.
