RESEARCH PAPER 1: The sound of silence: evidence of the continuing
under reporting of abuse in care homes.

Main findings:
This research paper has been written by the Steve Moore who is independent researcher
and consultant in Dudley, United Kingdom. Key purpose of the paper is to define the research
paper that entails the revelation of the active secrecy of abuse in mainly private region, that are
care home for the aged people in England (Moore, 2019). Key words for the paper are older
people, abuse, safeguard standards and care homes. Author stated that significant proportion of
the participants defines the exemplar of largely psychological and physical mistreat. As
respondents define their awareness of abusive act in care home which are not reported. They also
said that there are some instances which defines that occurrence of the abuse had been reported
but no actions are taken against such things, and also authorities have shown their careless
behaviour towards the abusive cases. Majority of the 72.9 percent of all participants who have
share their views in anonymous questionnaire states that they have witnessed the abuse, thus the
data for this is relevant and covered in during the 2015-2019 period.
Approach which have used by author:
In order to complete the research study author, select the questionnaire method for collecting the
data. In this anonymous questionnaire were utilised among the newly hired candidates in 11 new
opening care homes which bring out the quantitative as well as qualitative data regarding report
of the abuse case occurrence within the care homes (Shabot and Korem, 2018). In this research
the data is collected between 2011 to 2013 year where the data is obtained from the care staff of
the five new open care homes and the same method is done again but this time data is collected
from the 11 care home of aged people in year 2015 to 2019. As confirmation by the literature
and from the personal experience of the author, it is said the misuse of the vulnerable aged
people in care homes.
Key implication of the approach:
This research paper has mainly focused on primary data as to lay out the questionnaire, but this
method is quite expensive. As questionnaire method is conducted for almost three times in which
data is collected from different respondents, thus which consumes more time as well as nit costs
