In recent years, occurrences of academic fraudulence or dishonesty among college students
have been gradually rising. For instance, as per the latest news story, "The University of Iowa
surmise that around 30 students from China paid Chinese firms for the online examinations.”
Besides this, the Ad Council Campaign to Discourage Academic Cheating stated that around
20% of students from college self-confessed to cheat in high school in 1940’s, nowadays
from 75% to 98% of college students cheated in high school.” Academic fraudulence or
dishonesty is present everywhere, whether it is about stealing a paper of student and altering
the name, a student lettering solutions on his hand, or parting notes observable in an open
backpack. However, lecturers appear to be indeterminate about what is actually happening
(Proctoru, 2016).
Nowadays, students are getting attracted towards unproctored online examinations that have
infinite options and resources because of technology. Refined conducts to cheat comprises
graphing calculators that could pile an excess of material and the small computer maximum
of the students have in their hands that are known as a cell phone. The reason for increasing
academic dishonesty among student is the absence of an honor code, students who observe
other students adopting dishonest way such as cheating and have a feeling that they cannot be
competitive except they do the same; and less threat of being caught. Increased pressure than
before combined with the spacious comfort that technology gives are several causes'
academic dishonesty has augmented.
Ways to Maintain Academic Integrity

imposing rules will help in reducing the chances of cheating in the universities, classes, and
different departments. Some ways that could support in maintaining academic integrity are:
Communicating an Academic Integrity Policy - Whether schooling online or face-to-face,
Penn State faculty are needed by the policy of University to comprise a declaration of
Academic Integrity on the syllabus course. A significant portion of any rule or strategy of
Academic Integrity is a clear message of the punishments related with every breach or
violation.
Policies for Reducing Cheating in Resident and Online Courses- Educating students
