INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are habits, capabilities and talents which benefit academic pursuits,
including presentations, learning research, communication, test taking, report writing, planning,
etc (Bretag, 2016). These are combination of core and complex skill that makes a student more
efficient learners. Producing a game requires working on huge stages and encountering of
various difficulties by an individual.
The present report discusses about academic integrity, significance of academic integrity
in higher education and implications associated to academic misconduct. It also includes
reflection on steps taken along with difficulties encountered while producing a game. It further
reflects on skills which are learned and focuses in game production.
SECTION ONE
Description of Academic Integrity
In accordance to Sefcik, Striepe and Yorke (2019), academic integrity is delineated to
ethical policy as well as moral code of academia (Sefcik, Striepe and Yorke, 2019). In other
words, it refers to action with values of respect, honesty, responsibility, trust and fairness within
learning, teaching addition to research. In educational filed, it is vital for learners, professional
staff, teachers and researches to work honestly, responsible for actions along with show fairness
in all elements of working.
Within a student, academic integrity is demonstrated by always submitting own work,
doing own examinations and siting own tests. Further, they are responsible for following
instructions for all types of assessment tasks, provide accurate together with truthful
documentation to University and encourage other students for performing or acting with
academic integrity.
Discussing importance of academic integrity in higher education
In higher education, academic integrity is important because it direct students, teacher and
other professional staff to give themselves best successful chances through doing own
assessment tasks with honesty and fairness attitude (Prescott, 2016). Academic integrity helps in
identification of sources correctly by letting people mark work for seeing where influences for
ideas arise, shows path for the ways to build new knowledge and gives credit to those whose
information along with ideas are used by students.

Academic integrity is essential for students, researchers, teachers and professional bodies
of higher education to build new knowledge, thoughts, ideas and creative works while
acknowledging addition to respecting others working. It ensures that all students attain course
objectives and exceed State Standards. By holding academic integrity, students of higher
education are able to earn credit for material that is learned and mastered by them. It promotes
moral development of students by encouraging them to emphasis on avoiding academic
dishonesty.
To higher educational establishments, academic integrity provides an opportunity for
coming collectively as community as it provides legitimacy for pursuits of all learners. It
demonstrates and upholds highest honesty in all kinds of academic working which a student does
in higher education. It reflects on completing own work despite of any cheating or not presenting
working performed by others (Abbott and Nininger, 2021). It involves continuous fostering of
complex network of tactics, responsibilities and strategies across community of higher education.
Discussing implications of academic misconduct
Implications of conducting academic dishonest in form of unauthorised collaboration,
cheating, plagiarism or others could be very serious, including expulsion or suspension from
higher educational institutions. Any kind of violation of regulations against established practices
of instructors of class or higher educational handbook and deviating from responsible research
conduct are considered as violation of academic conduct. One of implication of academic
misconduct is penalties which higher educational institutions might impose of offending student
(Zharikova and Sherstjuk, 2017). At same time, social consequences of academic misconduct
comprise habit forming nature of cheating addition to cheating’s devaluation of fairness,
integrity and hard work. Among students of higher education, habitat nature of cheating shows
that people who cheat in academic practices along with thinks they could get away with it have
great chances to continue cheating at work or other aspects of life. In long run, it can harm not
only students who cheat but to all people from their actions.
Academic misconduct including plagiarism is said to equivalent to steal property of
another person. It is analysed that any original work in higher education that is created by
someone is seen as currency for that person. At the time, when other student or researcher uses it
without taking permission, it results in loss of intellectual property, recognition together with
possible income of the author or student (Asim and Et. Al., 2015). Furthermore, if a student is

found undertaking actions of academic misconduct, they are granted credential conforming they
have completed program of student which they have not that is serious consequence in higher
education. For instance, when a student obtains credentials of laws through habitual academic
misconduct, their public safety along with welfare might be jeopardised.
SECTION TWO
Reflection of steps taken and difficulties encountered in production of a game
Plagiarism and academic integrity game is an interactive game that is produced for helping
students to learn ways for reducing level of plagiarism and adhering integrity in working at
academic course of study (Plagiarism and academic integrity game. 2021). It is a five-star game
whose target group includes University students, Secondary School students and PhD students.
While producing the game, there were various steps that were followed by me. All the steps that
I have completed to produce the game, named as Plagiarism and academic integrity game are as
follows:
Step 1: Doing research and conceptualising the game: At this step, I thought about
what type of game I have to produce. For this, I have conducted research and analysed what
features to be added in the game.
Step 2: Working on design document: When I have figured out the ways to produce the
game, conceptualise it as well as initiates thinking about how it should look, I have put together
the design document. Design document refers to a brief outline of game including what it must
look like and practices require to produce it.
Step 3: Decision for requirement of Software: At this step, I have made decision about
what software I will require to produce the game. I have analysed that Plagiarism and academic
integrity game is more advanced game that needs powerful along with specific software
including 3D modelling programs along with image editors for producing it.
Step 4: Starting programming: When decision about software is made, next working of
mine is to start coding. I have coded the whole game and programmed it in the way that I thought
I must look like.
Step 5: Testing game and starting marketing: Producing a game is not sufficient, its
testing, launching and marketing plays significant function (Ptakauskaite, Chueng-Nainby and
Pain, 2016). At this step, the first thing that I have done to ensure is testing everything about the

game for removing any sort of bugs. It took extremely long time of mine. Also, marketing or
promotion of the game was also done by me to improve awareness among students and higher
educational establishments about it so that they start purchasing it and use it.
Some of difficulties that were encountered by me to produce the game that is Plagiarism
and academic integrity game are as follows:
Operating system fragmentation: There are huge number of operating system which are
coming at present and future. All these possesses own set of rules which is one of problem that I
encountered while producing the game as with cross platform tools, it was critical for me to
streamline codes and make it available for usage with other type of operating systems.
Dealing with concerns of security: I have encountered security issue while producing
game as most pf applications are built with requirements of providing information time to time.
There are chances of lost or damage of user’s information while playing game.
Framing monetisation model: At present, there are ample number of marketing practices
available to me for employ. However, I found it difficult to make decision about best model for
the game.
Reflecting on skills learned in academic year and which focuses on producing the game
In my academic year that is Business Management with Foundation, I have learned about
huge number of skills and emphasises particularly of producing the game that is Plagiarism and
academic integrity game. Some of the skills are as follows:
Time management skill: While studying Business Management with Foundation, I have
learned that managing time in various activities is key to complete a task. In context to producing
the game that is Plagiarism and academic integrity game, time management skill helped me to
work well through prioritising time on range of practices and keeping deadline of the game
production.
Communication skill: My experience in academic study reflects that communication
belongs to domain of soft and hard skills that are major area overlooked by programmers along
with technical folks. For achieving success in producing Plagiarism and academic integrity
game, communication skills are essential for sharing vision, ideas and thoughts with other team
members of the project.
Strong IT skills: For attaining success to design and produce a game, it is essential to
have strong IT skills for anchoring knowledge in programming and software designing
