INTRODUCTION Academic integrity refers to putting values into practice to being honest in academic working that an individual do at university, being fair to others, taking responsibility for learning and conventions of scholarships. This reflects moral attributes within academic field. Therefore it represent as an effective concept in which an individual gives credit to person for using their concepts and ideas. Academic integrity is all about accountability and honesty along with admit the other people contribution(Yang, Huo and Zhang, 2021). This particular report based on two sections in which first section includes the explanation of academic integrity with its importance in higher education. Further it discuss the implication of academic misconduct whereas second section discuss the reflection on steps that present difficulties in producing game along with skills that an individual learned during the academic year that are useful in producing game. SECTION 1 Introduction including a description of Academic Integrity Academic integrity defines as a ethical standard and moral code of academia. It is a commitment and demonstration of moral attributes, trust and honesty in the academic setting. This concept is highly relevant at the level of university as it demonstrate the fact the failure in attaining the assignments with the acceptance of rule is considered as a plagiarism. Therefore universitiesand academiccommunityare based on severalnorms, share valuessuchas responsibility, honesty and justice(Aleksandrova and et. al., 2019). This term generally based on the generating and communicating information in responsible, honesty, ethical and trustworthy manner. The concept of academic integrity apply on the researchers, student, faculties etc. who involve in any form of scholarly activity. According to this concept every person who involve in scholarly activity are highly accountable and responsible of learning in such a manner that does not harm other people feeling, trust and honesty in negative manner. If students, teachers and researchers follows the rules and regulations to complete their assignments than they face successful results in academic field. In any university if students follow proper rules and norms than there is no chance of facing any misconduct issues that impact negatively on their career. Within academic integrity there are several areas of concern which may includes cheating on assessmentand assignment.Administrativedishonesty, researchfraud, plagiarismetc.To remove the issues opposite of academic integrity every student have proper understanding 1
regarding policies and standards to maintain the moral values within academic session. It is not a type of activity that is being neglected by students. If any student done not follow the rules of academic integrity than they face the major consequences and also fall under the major problem. Knowledge regrading the concept of academic integrity helps in reflecting success within the studies. According to the ICAI there are some determinants related to academic integrity that are very useful for every individual under academics are presented below: ļ·Honesty- In academic integrity all work is to be done with honesty that helps in maintaining trust level(Salam and et. al., 2019). It is to be said that it is very crucial to be honest at the time of learning, research and teaching. ļ·Fairness- It is significant to works with free flow of thoughts and maintains all norms whilelearnandstudying.Itestablishfairresultandalsodevelopstransparent conversation between teachers, students and administration. ļ·Trust-It is another factor under academic integrity under which students works with the free flow of ideas because of maintaining high trust level that helps in reaching potential results. ļ·Respect- This is a type of determinant which is vital to create value and respect to the ideas and opinion of students. ļ·Responsibility- It is essential for every student to work as a responsible person so that proper and correct actions are to be taken effectively. Hence, it is highly necessary to focus on all determinants of academic integrity as it helps in maintaining fairness within study. A discussion of the importance of academic integrity in higher education Academic integrity is a type of concept that follows norms and regulations to helps and assist students for gaining knowledge with honesty and integrity. If any student does not understand the importance of academic integrity then they face major challenges at the time of studying in some reputed institution or university or doing some job in future. The concept of honesty help students to maintain values and effectiveness at the time of studying(DāAlessio, Avolio and Charles, 2019).Academic integrity is mainly important for higher education because it helps in assuring the academic reputation of university and the norms of university awards, protect the assignment and career of those students who do not cheat, properly meet the compliance and reporting duties as higher education provider. That reflects that all policies and practices must be followed by all members effectively and efficiently(Oi, 2019). This develops the confidence among members due to this the chances of becoming a leader is to be developed. Academic integrity shows honesty and dignity that represent a sign of a good leader. In simple terms the importance of academic integrity develops good habit within student at the time of college due to this they will get the good and deserving job within professional marketplace. Learning is very crucial phase in individual life and those follow academic integrity at the time of learning than they inhales effective principles for life time such as honesty, responsibility, respect, trust and fairness that helps person to deal with every situation in part of the life. By doing regular practising these principles are stored in mind that isa majorimportanceof academicintegritybecause due to thisindividualstudent productivity and performance is to be enhanced. Hence, these are the main aspects of studying and learning the concept of academic integrity at university(McKinnon and Bl 2019). Discuss the implications of academic misconduct There are several implications of academic misconduct that is presented in this sections to develops the knowledge of students. If students does not follow academic integrity effectively than it shows the academic misconduct. This also conduct the loss of future projects and in this university are also able to file a case against student.This will ruin the future creditability of students and also risky for university.It also create issue for teachers as it shows they are not able to teach properly the concept of honesty and trust. In simple terms they will not teach the concept of academic integrity(Amato Gauci, 2019). There are several implications of academic misconduct discussed below: ļ·Plagiarism- It represented in unethical manner. It means student copy the content of other writer instead of writing their own. This demonstrate the unethical manner of 3
student while doing the assignment. In simple terms plagiarism is a type of work that is being copied by one person and presents to audience with their own name(Van Ginkel, and et. al.,2020). To overcome with this issues university imply the study of academic integrity in student mind so that they stop coping the other material and develops fairness. Therefore plagiarism is an type of violation of academic integrity. ļ·Cheating- It is another issues under academic integrity. It represent the manner of passing the assignment to get good marks in university for pass the exam. This reflects that the student done the work in such a manner other person do. Academic integrity demonstrate the working with fairness and honesty. Therefore, cheating means doing the work in an unfair manner and this issue raise because student are not able to understand and learn the things effectively and efficiently. Hence, all these are the major implication of not following the academic integrity values and norms. It is essential for student to study the academic integrity so that issue of academic misconduct is reduced(Cohen and Eyal, 2021). If students are not properly follow the academic integrity than the issues related to plagiarism, cheating is to be raised and university and student pay high penalties for this. SECTION 2 Reflect on the steps you have taken, and difficulties encountered in producing the game I am glad that I got an opportunity to develop the game because it is very interesting and need smart and hard work to complete it effectively. By designing a game there is a high need of critical thinkingalong with the knowledge of research to present and design the game in effective and appropriate manner. By involving within this I have analysed that it is not an easy task although it is a good idea of developing game. In this I will face severaldifficulties at the time of planning the game. Planing is a first step for producing game. At the time of planning group head take the suggestion of every team member and it is difficult to me to examine and select the best idea because everyone has different opinion that will raise conflicts among team members(Jones and et. al.,2019). These conflicts will creates hindrances in producing the game. Due to different opinion of team members there is lack of engagement of people due to this activities under designing game is not done on time that creates issues of reducing marks at the module. Due to lack of communication the efficiency in working is to be reduced. Therefore 4
it was such a good experience of developing game because due to this I will connect with the number of people and this will develops my interacting skills,time management skills, communication skills etc. Reflect on the skills that I have gained during academic year There are several skills that gained during this academic year is that by involving in this I have gain the skill of interacting with number of people. It is very essential to sustain in business world. Further I have also developed my research skills in this academic year by taking participate in number of activities that also helps in producing the game effectively that is different from other students. Within this academic year I also enhance the skill of managing people that helps in managing conflicts which are present at the time of designing game. Managing people is foremost skill to sustain in professional field because it helps in providing more opportunities that grow my career in future aspects. CONCLUSION By examine the above explanation it is to be summarised that academic integrity is one of the significant term that is followed by every student. It is a type of concept that is followed by students,teachersandvariousfacultymemberstoenhancethepowerofbeinghonest, trustworthy people, respect other etc. therefore it is a type of concept thatis based on several norms and values that helps students to done assignments in fair and authentic manner. This report elucidates the concept of academic integrity along with their importance that helps students to understand the facts and figures related to the particular concept and enhance the efficiency. At the end it helps in reflecting the issues that are faced at the time of developing game and skills which are built while designing game that helps in gaining career in relation to future context. 5
