This report discusses academic integrity, its importance in higher education, implications of academic misconduct, and a reflection on game development. The report is divided into two sections. Section 1 explains academic integrity, its importance, and implications of academic misconduct. Section 2 reflects on the steps taken and difficulties encountered in producing a game for academic integrity and the skills developed during the process. Introduction
The academic integrity is the moral code or ethical policy of academia. The term was
developed by the Don McCabe who is considered as the 'grandfather of academic integrity'.
The academic integrity influences the legislation of educational values through behaviors
such as avoidance of cheating, plagiarism and maintains academic standards, honesty. The
higher academic community and university is built on the shared values and norms of
behavior which defines putting those values into practices in the academic work of university
with honesty, responsibility taken for learning, being fair to others and following conventions
of scholarship (Bowden, J.A. and Green, P.J., 2019). In the report the discussion is divided
into two sections. The section 1 concentrates on the explanation and importance of academic
integrity, implications of academic misconduct in higher education environment. In the
section 2 there is reflective part on the steps taken and difficulties faced in producing game.
Further it also explains skills learned during the process of producing game.
Section 1
An Introduction including a description of Academic Integrity
The academic integrity defines the values in the university studies that underpins
everything when engaging in academic activities by acting fairly and honestly in the
university. In three components the academic integrity practice is divided which are-
teaching, research and service. The term 'integrity' refers to adherence to moral and ethical
principles and quality of a person's character. The purpose of the academic integrity is to
develop knowledge and maximize accuracy and fairness in academic community. To promote
academic integrity the academically dishonest behavior must be avoided such as plagiarism,
fabrication, and falsification. The academic integrity in students, faculty and staff
demonstrates academic lives honesty and moral behavior. The integrity considered as the
academic misconduct and attracts towards penalty if individual fails to compl (Chauhan, P.K.
and et. al., 2018). The academic integrity comprises of six core values- fairness, honesty,
trust, respect, responsibility and courage. The person is restricted from using the ideas of
others on its own name. The colleges, professors and other institutions uses several tools and
techniques to check the data integrity offered by people. The academic integrity has identified
five pillars of integrity.

Honesty- It refers to sincerity where honest individual receipts stock of the
individual’s ability and their effort is represented fairly. The honest students work on their
own by following instructions of professors and without taking any unauthorized help,
respecting university policies
Trust- It is established in the system where all members perform their best and eases
the working relationships. The structures and policies should be treated fairly. It helps in
building the relationship with peers and with instructors which is mostly based on the actions.
Fairness- TheIn such individuals must be treated fairly and and with the same
standard they will be judged in the community as others are judged with same standards. The
behavior of peer is supported to value their degree of the individual.
Respect-The respect is shown by listening and sharing opinions and viewpoints of the
individual. The respect is shown when there is active participation in learning and gaining
new knowledge, putting best efforts in the forward (Curtis, G.J. and et. al., 2018).
Responsibility- The daily actions are acknowledged and there is accountability in the
work. Everyone performs their work with integrity and encourages others to perform or act
their work with integrity too. The entire community is influenced positively and with
individual academic integrity starts.
A discussion of the importance of academic integrity in higher education
In the higher education the academic integrity has the great importance as it is
fundamental to learning, teaching and research at the university. The educational approach is
provided to recognize that students require support to develop and showcase academic skills.
The new ideas, knowledge and creative work is built by allowing freedom to students and
staff by academic integrity and acknowledging and respecting the working of others. The
academic integrity is important as it provides the chances of success to complete the
assessment task with an honest attitude. The bad consequences are avoided and in studying
for a degree, time and effort is invested (Dadkhah, M and et.al., 2018). In regard with the
university, academic integrity is important as the university required to be consistent and
trustworthy in its standards for the assessment and courses so that community can have
confidence in people who are graduating with degrees. The students’ skills are developed
which have the massive effect on future employability. The right language and style are used
to present idea and information by exhibit good critical thinking. The people have trust on the
person as they believe the act of person will be honestly by doing right thing with consistent
behavior with belief which creates trust and shows as a characteristic of successful leader. It

provides value to the student integrity as employers prefer to recruit graduates who have high
personal integrity (Halffman, W. and Horbach, S.P.J.M., 2018). The reputation is safeguard,
reflecting on university and contributes for the society welfare through high standard of
academic integrity. It ensures learning, as the person do not copy the information and
understands the terms of integrity by collaborating their ideas in their own words.
Discuss the implications of academic misconduct
The academic misconduct is defined as any type of cheating which helps in gaining
unfair academic advantage. The academic dishonesty occures when the person action or
behaviour is against the norm of learning institution. The academic misconduct consists of
wide variety of behaviors such as plagiarism, cheating, altering academic documents or
transcripts. There are some examples of misconduct-
Cheating- It is referring as fraud, deceit or dishonesty in the academic assignment
such as copying from others during an exam, answers are communicated with another person
during an exam, use of unauthorized materials, prepared answers, written notes, concealed
information during an exam. An assistance is provided without due acknowledgment (Pandoi,
D. and Gupta, A.K., 2018).
Plagiarism- It is refereed as the use of intellectual material produced by another
person without acknowledging its sources for example- use of views, opinions, insights of
another without acknowledgment. In the higher education it is an increasingly problem as the
work of another is presented as his own without having the proper source of acknowledgment
and without creator permission.
Collusion- It is in the form of plagiarism which is unauthorized and unattributed of
students in a piece of assessed work. It is an act of two or more students working together on
an individual assignment.
Falsification or fabrication - It is an attempt to present fictitious data or distorted
data, evidence, citations, experimental results in any formal academic exercise. In the
falsification the false claims are made about research performed. It includes the alteration of
information in an academic document or activity (Reedy, A.K. and et. al., 2020).
Sabotage- Another person work is destroyed or disrupting so that the other person
cannot complete an academic activity successfully. In the required team project the failure of
contribution is also considered as academic sabotage.
The implication of the academic misconduct are the penalties imposed by the
university on the offending student. In the higher education the academic dishonesty has

becomes a serious problem in institutions. The cheating has the implication on the students,
schools, teachers and on the education system. In the workplace the students are more
engaged in fraud as in the class the students were dishonest. Due to academic dishonesty not
all the graduates have the same skills with the same grades. It creates the problems for the
teachers and causes an underproduction of knowledge where the job of teacher is to produce
knowledge. It also causes emotional distress to the faculty member and affects the university
reputation (Rudasill, K.M. and et. al., 2018).

Reflect on the steps you have taken, and difficulties encountered in producing the game
for Project 2
The education in the present time competition has been become very significant an
there is lot of misuse of academic misconduct at a big scale. To protect the information, I
came with the idea of producing game for academic misconduct so that level of knowledge
towards plagiarism and academic misconduct can be enhanced. The aim of the game was to
enhance the value of understanding towards the academic integrity so the there can be
avoidance of academic misconduct with the respect of the exams conduct and schools’
assignment. For such I first, developed the idea to produce a game which can be easy and
understandable to control the plagiarism. After the lot of research integrity game of card was
developed. While researching I thought to produce the game between the professor and
student. Secondly, I designed the cards towards ethics in which there will be 10 special cards
after gathering the information from doing research and game rules were developed. In the
third step, while designing the cards I framed some questions regarding the academic
misconduct and on the other side of card there will be answer. The questions will be asked by
the professor. In the fourth step, there will be answers given by the students and the game
will be tested. In the last the game development process will be completed and played
between the professor and student.
In framing the game, the difficulties faced by me are-
The first problems I faced while developing the game of integrity was in the selection of the
game. The second in designing of cards I face the problem. In framing the questions that is to
be asked by the candidates. In organising the game, I find some difficulties.
Reflect on the skills you have learned this academic year ant those emphasized in
producing your game
While producing the game of integrity I came across a number of skills that already I

was possessing and some new were developed that made the task more interesting. In the
game I developed the research skills as it is the ability to search, organise, evaluate, and using
the particular information regarding the particular topic. The research skill helped me in
finding the answers to the question and from various sources it helped in collection of
information. I developed the creative skills which enhanced my way of thinking and ideas.
By acquiring this skill, it helped me framing the questions and builds the game very
interesting. I was already possessing the organising skills as I worked already in the
management and have the knowledge how to organise the things which made easy in
organising the game. While framing the game I was having the presentation skill to makes the
things presentable and skills of mine were more enhanced. It helped me in framing the game
in such a way that students do not find any difficulty. The writing skill of my is improved
while writing the game in the form of grammar, spelling, vocabulary, clarity, etc. which made
the game easier in understanding. It helped me using the knowledge and ability related to
expressing the written information regarding the game. The communication skill was
improved and enhanced which making the game and in presenting of game. The time
management skill was developed in keeping deadlines in mind of the game and
responsibilities were divided.
Conclusion
The conclusion has been made that in the first section the academic integrity is
discussed with its importance for the students, university and employers. Furthermore, it
discussed academic misconduct with its types and implications. In the section second there
was a reflection of the steps and difficulties while producing the game and during this what
skills were developed. For the students it is essential to learn the education importance so that
their career can be developed and good personality. It is necessary in the university, schools
to stop the practicing of the copying of information or other ideas. The motivation must be
provided so that students can generate their own knowledge, ideas from, different sources to
enhance the learning and personal development.
