INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development is referred as a concept that helps in managing
own learning growth throughout their career. It is important and essential that individual should
continue to learn and develop to keep their skills and knowledge up to date and ensure that
individual should continue to work safely, legally and effectively (Lin and Magnuson, 2018).
Personal and professional development is also refereed as continuous professional development
(CPD). This report is based on academic skills and PDP (Choy and Chua, 2019). This report
includes definition of concept of personal and professional development, description and
discussion of value of medium term goals and long term goals, description and discussion of how
author, purpose, reliability and relevance
MAIN BODY
TASK 1
Definition of concept of personal and professional development.
Personal development is basically consists of activities of activities that develop a
individual's capabilities and potentials, building human capital, facilitate employability and
enhancing quality of life and realization of dreams and aspirations. Personal development
sometime may take place over course of an individual's entire lifespan. Aim and motive of
personal and professional development is to provide helps individual to manage their own
learning and growth throughout their career (Misra, 2018). It is essential and necessary for any
individual to learn and develop their skills and knowledge up to date and ensure that individual
should continue to work safely, effectively and legally. Professional as well as personal
development is important as it helps in expanding and growing their skills and talents beyond
their current role as for preparing themselves for having more which makes them more and high
valuable to employers. Some of ways that helps in managing individual’s personal and
professional development are as follows:
Setting a clear objective about what is required to achieved: As once an individual has
defined and have a clear goal it will become easy to manage their personal and professional
development (Kalinowski, Gronostaj and Vock, 2019.

 Identifying and taking right opportunities: As training is not all about learning. It is
also required to search for right and good opportunities to use their skills, knowledge and
information that helps in grabbing right opportunities for individuals.
Description and discussion of value of short terms goals.
Short terms goals refers to goals which an individual wants to cover as soon as possible.
Short term goals provide help in making big changes. Short term goal is something which an
individual want to do in near coming future. Some of personal example of short term goals are as
follows:
 Earning a new certificate or a degree.
 Improving and enhancing performance numbers.
 Enhancing and improving networking and communication skills.
 Enhancing and gaining work life balances.

Medium term goals refers to goals which takes some long time to accomplish. These
goals and objectives could be achieved in some weeks and months. Medium term goals and
objectives basically offers best skills and development of individuals) (Cammarata and Haley,
2018). As it is long enough to make significant progress and results. As various and different
person by time that individual is desired to accomplish its planned goals. Medium term goals are
ones they could set many goals at time of career and lifespan. Some of personal examples of
having medium terms goals are as follows:
 Taking care of individual’s savings and money for dealing with any uncertainty and
emergency.
 Thinking about timeline and managing risks for gaining and generating revenues and
have development.
 Starting a career and developing business in order to create and identity towards society
and have development.
Description and discussion of value of long term goals.
Long term goals referred to goals that individuals want to accomplish them in coming
future. These goals and objectives need planning and time to achieve them effectively. Long
term goals generally could be covered in years (Özer, Can and Duran, 2020). Long term goals

provide a guide everyday life that is a beneficial tool that helps in taking right and effective
decisions. These goals provide help in finding more skills and knowledge which have purpose.
Some of personal examples of long terms goals are as follows:
 Becoming leader of enhanced skills and talents with personal as well as professional
development.
Long terms deal in determining and building career of their choice in which they have interest to
carry them(Segarra and Gentry, 2021).
 Long terms goals define and set helps in gaining knowledge and building skills.

source.
It has been described that author, purpose, reliability and relevance affects use of a
source. As an individual gathering and collection of information from a variety of types of
sources for research to projects that consist books, newspaper articles, magazines, articles and
journals (Jamil, Linder and Stegelin, 2018). As they examine and evaluate each source to
determine quality of information provided in it. Purpose is to provide information and to
persuade or advocate. Author defines and states who is writer, subject matter expertise.

Reliability and relevance of sources to determine citations, footnotes and bibliography and is
data is gathered by using original source and original research papers.

From above report it has been concluded that for having growth in an individual’s life and
career. It is necessary to have personal and professional development that helps learning and
maintaining a sense of living, learning and carrying activities. There is a brief explanation of

With carrying personal and professional development there are various medium term and long
term goals of development that are required to be fulfilled by individuals in order to have career
growth. There is a description of author, purpose, relevance which affects use of sources. And
