INTRODUCTION Academic skills are comprised of core skills, which involves academic writing, skills related to presentation and referencing, that underpins complex skills, for example critical thinking as well as reflective practice (Assiter, ed., 2017).In a broad manner it can be stated that any skill that boosts a ability of a person for studying, retaining and recalling information that assists in passing of exams that can be reflected as study skill, as well as it involvestime managementas well as motivational techniques (Balfaqeeh and Hassan, 2017). This report is based on analysis of academic skills as well as personal development plan. It covers description of personal and professional development and discusses on short-term, medium-term and long- term goals. Further, personal development plan is evaluated for achieving my goals. TASK 1 I am the student at a University and for the purpose of reviewing my learnings and enhancing its effectiveness I planned to develop a personal development plan which is a helpful approach for gaining success. Thus, I reviewed my short medium, and long-term goals of life in personal as well as professional context. Concept of personal and professional development: Personal as well as Professional developmentis the procedure by which an organization or anindividualengage in learning for the purpose of meeting the challenges as well as desire goal. The objective ofpersonal as well as professional developmentis related to helping a person to manage his or her own learning orgrowththroughout the person’scareer (Biemiller and Meichenbaum, 2017). It is essential that an individual continues to learn ordevelopfor keeping his or herskillsor knowledge up-to date. Further, it ensures continuation of work in a safe, legal and effective manner. Short-term goals: Ashort-termgoalreferstoobjectivethatcanbedoneinnearfutureashort-term objectiveis something which a person wants to accomplish soon. Ashort-term goalindicates agoalthat can be achieved in 12 months (Goodall Jr, 2018). My short-term goal is to increase myacademicresults,improvisemycommunicationskillsandenhancemyexpertisein presentation in front of crowd.
Medium-term goals: Medium term goals: refers to goals that can be achieved after a sequence of achievement of short-term goals and it builds together for forming a long-term goal (Howe and Lisi, 2018). While pinpointing my medium-term goals it can be stated that my medium-term goal is to gain experience of internship which will help me gaining practical knowledge about corporate world. It helps me in gaining advantage over competitors. Apart from it I am focused towards enhancing my expertise by pursuing various mini workshops which will provide me knowledge regarding analytics, excel, etc. Long-term goals: Along-term goalrefers to something which a person wants to achieve in the future. long-term goalsprove to be essential for the purpose of a successful career. In other words, along-term goalindicates something which a person wants to accomplish in upcoming future (Meltzer ed., 2018).Long-term goalsneed time along with planning planning. It is not something which a person can do in a week or even in a year. My long-term goal is to get a job in a large organization. Further I am focused towards maintaining a work life balance. Personal development plan: Personal development planning refers to the process for creation of an action plan on the basisofawareness, reflection,planning,goal-setting,valuesfor thepurposeof personal development in the relevance of a career, relationship, self-improvement or education. In context to higher education plan of personal development typically involves a portfolio which contains an evidence of skills that is gathered over a particular period of time (Nghia, 2018).
