INTRODUCTION Academic skill is combination of certain skills that includes presentation skills, critical thinking, academic writing, referencing and reflective practice(Francis and Kraus, 2012). The report highlights information of personal and professional development, values related to short term, medium termbesides long goal.The reportalsoevaluates some sources as percertain aspects. TASK 1 1.Defining values pertaining Personal together with professional development Concept of personal along with professional development is considered as a process that engages peopleas well asbusiness in learning process for meeting challenges addition to attaining desired goals(Boud, 2012). Personal development refers to improving talents, competence, knowledge and potential of an individual within as well as out of the location where they work. Likewise, professional development is defined to enhancing necessary abilities and skills for performing roles in best effective manner so to continue them throughout working life(Cashwell and McKibben, 2018). 2. Short goals Goals of an individual that they prefer to attain in near future are described to short term goals. These are more valued as the works a milestone in journey of a person to reach towards ultimate destination(Carroll, 2020). Examples related to short term goals: Completing an online course. Improving communication skill. Enhancing personal relationships. 3. Medium goals Goals of a person which takes bit longer time are called as medium-term goals(Carriveau, 2016). Values of such goals are more because these are aligned with long term goals and makes things easier to track for future. Examples of medium-term goals: Achieving good grades in university courses. 1
Improving presentation skills. Going on a dream tour. 4. Long goals Goals which take several years for accomplishment are long term goals(Stiggins and Chappuis, 2012). These are essential for self-improvement and helps an individual to shape direction of their careers addition to lives. It requires huge time along with planning to proceed and attain long term goals. Examples of long-term goals: Working at higher position in international organisation. Becoming more emotionally intelligent. Expanding my worldview. 5.Personal Development Plan Concept of personal development plan is a systematic approach for improving existing skills and developing an action plan on the basis of reflection, planning, awareness, goal setting and values in context to education, career or self-improvement(Jamison and Wilson, 2019). Values of personal development plan includes empowerment for future, imbue confidence, structure realistic goals and maintains work life balance(Beausaert, Segers and Gijselaers, 2011). TASK 2 Description along with discussion of the ways in which Author, Relevance, Reliability and Purpose”impacts on usageof source Author is a person who is originator or creator of some written work that includes book, article, journal, etc. In a source, when name of author is not cited properly then it impacts adversely on its usage. Further, relevance refers to a state of being connected closely or appropriately(Charron, Lewis and Craig, 2017). When cited source is not closely connected with mentioned information in a report then use of source is unauthentic. Purpose refers to a reason for which things are created or a reason something exists. When source used in report lacks purpose stated in information then it highly impacts the usage. Reliability is the quality to perform consistently well. Any source that is not trustworthy with information presented then it impacts negatively on usage in the report. 2
