INTRODUCTION
Academic skills refers to skills that enable individual to succeed in academics and
achieve academic objectives (Ribner and et.al., 2017). Personal development plan involves
determination of skills and knowledge that one wants to developed in a systematic form . This
report will discuss personal development planning and effect of Author, purpose, reliability and
relevance for use of source.
Task 1
Concept of personal and professional development
Personal and professional development is concerned with activities and practices that
individual undertake in order to manage their own learning and development and growth of their
career. This means that this involved development of person in both ways through which they
become skilled and grow in personal context which help them in succeed in academics. Along
with this also enable individual become successful in achieving career goals and become more
competent in professional context (Hildebrand, 2018).
Value of short-term goals
Short term goals are those goals that one aims to achieve in a time period of 12 months. Short
term goals are highly valuable as they enable individual to achieve medium and long term goals.
Short-term goals are also valuable as it helps in avoiding procrastination (Cellini and et.al.,
2017). Personal short-term goals are-
 Developing academic writing skill
 Developing critical thinking skills
 Developing effective comprehension skills
Value of medium-term goals
Medium-term goals are valuable as they contribute in linking short term goals and long term
goals. Medium-term goals are also valuable as they provide time that is long enough that one can
achieve goals effective and these are short enough that one does not lose track of achieving their
objectives (Short, Medium and Long Term Goals, 2021). Personal medium-term goals are-
 Completion of University education
 Completing internship in finance field
 Expansion of knowledge and skills for finance management through practice and
experience
