According to Han and et. al.(2021), the pandemic period of COVID-19 has influenced the
food trade and other interruption within food supply chain due to exporting limitation. The
pandemic period has affected every section of society including food supply chain. This is very
critical vital as all the people need to eat so it becomes big challenge for the food sector which
include large and small companies under this. The food poverty is being introduced in the
COVID-19 period and the companies are having shortage of labour. There are many developed
economies who are efficiently distributed their products to the final customers with just in time
system. The market is mostly covered with small number of powerful retailer also get supported
by different operators. Usually the people of UK spend only 10% of their total income however
the complexness and efficiency of the supply chain show it is likely to extrinsic stock. The
impact is being challenging as well as present opportunity for the business of food.
Whereas Poudel and Subedi (2020), stated that the food chain is being damaged from
different side as the producer, manufacturer and the retailer all are playing their role in this. The
united kingdom is earlier importing the vegetable and fruits more than 17% of self- sufficiency
for the fresh fruit and 52% of self- sufficiency for the vegetables. Yet the food chain is having
five sectors under this agricultural production, processing, distribution, consumption and post-
harvest handling. The quality and safety is majorly used in supply chain of food from this quality
is depends on the regulation as well as laws that are being used as mandatory standard that is
analysed by agencies of state. The safety is voluntary standard and defined by particular market
laws, the pandemic period of COVID-19 has not directly affects the production because the virus
is not being spread through the agricultural products yet, the government in UK as well as other
countries has restricted the transportation by different means that are land, water and air for the
goods. With this practise the labour also not able to travel or migrate.
The Wang and et. al. (2020), determine that the developing as well as underdeveloped
countries, temporary or seasonal worker are common, mainly in sorting, harvesting processing
the crops and transferring them in the market. Thus, the supply chain is also affecting resulting of
the absence of local or migratory workers due to sickness. Mainly the labour's shortage is being
due to COVID-19 situation also can cause disruptions in various sectors. The farmworker is
being majorly influenced before the pandemic period. Supply market is mainly affected as it is
become opportunity for FMCG sector as people need the regular products on daily basis, and
